<p>Adjunct Doctoral Committee Member</p> <p>Faculty (Contract)</p> <p>Remote, US</p> <p>Salary Range: $200 per enrolled doctoral student per assigned semester</p> <p>Scope of Work</p> <p>Part-time, Per Semester</p> <p>INSTITUTION OVERVIEW:</p> <p>Founded in 1927 by a Navy veteran, Capitol Technology University is a regionally accredited institution that blends academic excellence with career focused practical learning experience. Capitol Tech is the only independent university in Maryland dedicated to STEM and offering evening and online classes at all levels. The University offers unique commitments to on-campus undergraduate students that include a salary guarantee and a Chargers Assistance Program that helps students pay back their loans if they do not find full-time work within 90 days of graduation. Capitol is distinguished by its progressive approach to higher education.</p> <p>POSITION OVERVIEW:</p> <p>The successful candidate will be passionate about working directly with Doctoral students to prepare them for the demands of their Doctoral courses and dissertation research. The individual will be a dynamic, visionary educator with innovative ideas for interdisciplinary approaches to education, experience teaching in multiple modalities, and the ability to motivate student excellence. Committee Members dedicate 100% of their time to assisting doctoral students on their dissertation process. Responsibilities includes dissertation draft review, providing substantive feedback, attending the oral defense, and final approval of the dissertation. This is a semester-based position which maintains visibility with our online students, reporting to the Dean of Graduate School.</p> <p>We invite applications for a contracted Adjunct Doctoral Committee Member. Applicants with traditional and non-traditional backgrounds, teaching or dissertation committee experience, and at least 5 years of work experience in any field relevant to the Graduate School academic doctoral programs are welcome to apply.</p> <p>Estimated start date: August 1, 2025</p> <p>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>Teaching</p> <ul> <li>Mentor students through course curriculum and program milestones as a Committee Member. </li><li>Through coordination with the Dissertation Chair, help the student formulate a </li></ul> <p>long-term plan for implementing revisions of the dissertation.</p> <ul> <li>Maintain visibility for assigned students, including but not limited to: communicating and meeting with Dissertation Chairs and students, responding to emails and voicemails in a timely fashion, and mentoring and advising students dissertation revisions. </li><li>Respond to emails within 2 business days of receipt. </li><li>Respond to submissions within 5 business days with substantive feedback. </li><li>Maintain professional competencies in research, a subject area provided in the Graduate School, and currency in instructional methodologies through training and development. </li><li>Effectively use Office365, Canvas (Learn@), Zoom (Capitol Live), and Student Information System interfaces. </li><li>May be required to perform other related tasks as assigned by the Dean of Graduate School and/or Vice President. </li></ul> <p>POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Doctoral degree from an accredited institution of higher learning in a closely aligned field relevant to the subject areas provided within the Graduate School. </li><li>Must be able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship as the college is unable to provide sponsorship. </li><li>At least five years of professional experience within the last 10 years in a subject area relevant to programs within the Graduate School. </li><li>Extensive knowledge of subject matter and relevant topics and issues in the research discipline, including, but not limited to, qualitative and/or quantitative methodologies, statistical testing, data analysis techniques, understanding of relevant analysis software, and understanding of the ethical principles of research. </li><li>Knowledge of effective instructional techniques and innovative modes of course delivery adaptable to a variety of learning styles. </li><li>Understanding of the current American Psychological Association (APA) formatting guidelines. </li><li>Demonstrated commitment to a diverse student body. </li><li>Commitment to collegiality with faculty and staff in support of the university's mission and goals. </li><li>Teaching experience of five years or more, to include at least two years teaching and/or committee member at the doctoral level. </li><li>Excellent communication skills, and the ability to work with faculty, students, and industry partners on various projects. </li><li>Ability to master the use of the technology platforms used to support learning and administration of the University including: Office365, Canvas (Learn@), Zoom (Capitol Live), and Student Information System interfaces. </li><li>Ability to maintain confidential information. </li><li>Desire to further the mission of Capitol Technology University. </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires sitting occasionally for extended periods of time, and repetitive motions for operating computer mouse and keyboard. Hearing and effectively communicating on the telephone, the online learning environment, and in person. Visual demands: Computer monitor and reading.</p>
