These values - integrity, patient-centered, respect, accountability, and compassion - must guide what we do, as individuals and professionals, every day.</p> <p>Under the direction of the manager and chief of the Diagnostic Radiology Physics and supervising medical physics faculty , the resident will participate in structured learning and assist medical physicists in providing clinical medical physics services to all aspects of diagnostic radiology services and modalities at Yale -New Haven Hospital and its satellite facilities, which include, but not limited to, patient dosage calculation, equipment calibration, in vivo dosimetry, quality assurance, and other physical and technical tasks performed routinely by clinical physics staff.</p> <p>EEO/AA/Disability/Veteran</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li> <ol> <li>Equipment calibration and maintenance. </li></ol> </li><li>1.1 Under faculty supervision, conducts and/or reviews annual QA testing of all diagnostic imaging equipment to ensure compliance with imaging and dosimetry standards. also perform acceptance testing of newly installed imaging equipment to ensure their safe operation and compliance with applicable Federal, State and industry standards. </li><li> <ol start="2"> <li>Special imaging procedures </li></ol> </li><li>2.1 Design and assist in implementing specialized devices and instruments for new clinical techniques and evaluate such equipment to assure proper operation </li><li> <ol start="3"> <li>Learning facility design and radiation protection. </li></ol> </li><li>3.1 Calculate room shielding requirements based on regulations </li><li> <ol start="4"> <li>Assist Radiology Physicists in accreditation and regulatory testing </li></ol> </li><li>4.1 Develop and assist the implementation of quality assurance programs, and test these programs for conformance with specifications established by the JCAHO, ACR and other regulatory agencies. </li><li> <ol start="5"> <li>Professional development </li></ol> </li><li>5.1 Develop abilities to function in the roles and responsibilities of an independent medical physicist </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>EDUCATION</p> <p>M.S. or Ph.D. in physics, medical physics, or a closely related discipline from a CAMPEP accredited program. Others will have to comply with CAMPEP pre-residency requirements.</p> <p>EXPERIENCE</p> <p>The candidate with appropriate education does preferably have a minimum of one (1) year of medical physics training in Diagnostic Radiology Physics or related modality.</p> <p>LICENSURE</p> <p>NA</p> <p>SPECIAL SKILLS</p> <p>Demonstrable knowledge of fundamental physics, advanced mathematics, advanced atomic and nuclear physics , basic anatomy, computer operation, and network basics. Strong analytic skills in analyzing and solving problems encountered in the design and execution of diagnostic imaging.
