<p>Reports To: Principal</p> <p>Duty Days: 187 Days</p> <p>Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt</p> <p>Pay Grade IS04</p> <p>Updated: 06/2025</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <p>College hours 15 or high school diploma or GED (with passing score of 464 on ParaPro test) for Non-Title I campus</p> <p>Ability to work with children with disabilities</p> <p>Ability to follow verbal and written instruction</p> <p>Ability to communicate effectively</p> <p>Knowledge of general office equipment</p> <p>Paraprofessional Educational Aide certificate II required once employed</p> <p>CPI certification once employed</p> <p>Please Note: Additional Qualification for Title I Campus:</p> <p>College hours, 48 minimum or a score of 464 on the ParaPro test</p> <p>Primary Purpose:</p> <p>Assist the teacher with instructional needs as appropriate</p> <p>Major Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Adhere to federal, state and local policies and procedures related to special education paraprofessionals and child care facilities. </li><li>Participate in planned in-services and professional growth activities. </li><li>Assist in carrying out the instructional program. </li><li>Assist in maintaining confidential student records and data for determining student progress. </li><li>Assist in preparation, use and maintenance of instructional materials and equipment. </li><li>Assist with teacher-planned activities, exercises and drills. </li><li>Assist when needed in helping students in self-care activities such as feeding and toileting. </li><li>Assist in implementing the therapy programs which may require lifting and positioning. </li><li>Attend professional meetings as required. </li><li>Assist in implementing behavior intervention strategies </li><li>Assist in providing no-medical procedures such as feeding tubes and other interventions as necessary for the student. </li><li>Provide instructional support and implement instructional accommodations for students. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li><li>Other SHARS Duties as assigned. </li><li>Provide Personal Care as identified in applicable student IEPs. </li></ul> <p>Equipment Used:</p> <p>Personal computer, copier, printer, calculator, laminator and Smart board. Washer/dryer, microwave, dishwasher. Familiar with wheelchairs, wheelchair lifts, wheelchair restraints, electric changing tables, Hoyer lift, assistive technology equipment-voice output device, various physical therapy equipment, gastrointestinal tube (g-tube).</p> <p>Working Conditions:</p> <p>Maintain emotional control under stress. Regular district-wide travel to multiple work locations as assigned; moderate stooping, pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying. May be required to lift and transfer students to and from wheelchair or assist with positioning students with physical disabilities. Prolonged use of a computer and repetitive hand motions. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours. May be required to lift and position students with physical disabilities (heavy lifting greater than 50 pounds); control behavior through physical restraint; and assist non-ambulatory students.
