<p>Primary Location:</p> <p>2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway, Plano, Texas, 75074</p> <p>We are searching for candidates that meet the required qualifications and experience and are able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.</p> <p>Job Summary:</p> <p>Assist with layout, implementation and evaluation of a developmentally appropriate program for young children through daily administration of the Child Development Center. Ensure the safety and well being of children and staff. Uphold director responsibilities in the absence of the director.</p> <p>Required Qualifications:</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</p> <p>Assist the director in planning, implementing, overseeing and evaluating the child development center on a daily and on-going basis to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations, including Texas Health and Human Services-Child Care licensing, Texas Rising Star and NAEYC accreditation. Cross train and serve as back-up for the campus director of child development.</p> <p>Responsible for maintaining staff to children ratios in compliance with state and accreditation standards.</p> <p>Participate in the Emergency Response Team. Assist with monthly fire drills and indoor drills.</p> <p>Supervise part-time staff and ensure development and training needs are met. Coordinate and arrange weekly classroom staffing schedule. At times required to substitute for any position needed in the center, including teacher or director.</p> <p>Maintain positive parent-center relationships by addressing concerns, supporting family needs, and encouraging open communication, actively communicate through greetings, phone calls and e-mails. Assist with new parent orientation and required paperwork.</p> <p>Maintain system of receipts and billing for all financial transactions. Maintain a system for an up-to-date waiting list.</p> <p>Maintain filing system for children, student, and staff records to maintain compliance of state lab and school policies. Assure immunizations, vision and hearing screenings are up-to date.</p> <p>Assist faculty in designing, implementing and evaluating appropriate lab components to supplement classroom learning. Assist students with practical application of course work. Assist classroom teachers with the scheduling of student activities and projects.</p> <p>Serve as liaison between child development students and faculty, ensuring documented compliance with Child Development Center policies and curriculum goals. Assist with lab student field experience placement to include required paperwork, orientation, and required background check.</p> <p>Interface with other Collin College departments to provide awareness and services.</p> <p>Assist classroom teachers with the implementation of curriculum, Ages and Stages developmental screenings, and documentation of children's development.</p> <p>Regularly examine/evaluate the facilities, including playground, classrooms, and adjacent areas to ensure safe and sanitary conditions. Communicate with appropriate campus facilities personnel regarding custodial and facilities maintenance issues.</p> <p>Supplemental Functions</p> <ul> <li>Perform other duties as assigned. </li><li>Perform all duties to maintain all standards in accordance with college policies, procedures and Core Values. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of current Health and Human Services Child Care licensing </li><li>Knowledge of the National Association of Education for Young Children standards and accreditation requirements </li><li>Knowledge of laws that protect the well-being of children and their families </li><li>Knowledge of health policies and requirements of the Center of Disease Control (CDC) in a childcare facility </li><li>Knowledge of state laws protecting the well-being of children and their families </li><li>Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and additional database software </li><li>Proficient organization skills </li><li>Effective critical thinking and problem-solving skills </li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills </li><li>Ability to maintain cooperative and effective working relationships </li><li>Ability to maintain a system to monitor and check adherence to agency rules, regulations, standards and criteria </li><li>Ability to complete 24 annual clock hours pertaining to training in Child Development and Education and improving job performance </li><li>Ability to assist with program evaluation, development of administration portfolio and required reports for The National Association of Education for Young Children (NAEYC) </li><li>Ability to provide support and objective advice in regard to child development and early childhood education </li><li>Ability to think objectively and enforce childcare policies and procedures </li><li>Ability to maintain confidently of all children and family </li><li>Ability to ensure compliance of college policies, procedures and Core Values </li><li>Ability to maintain a system of receipts and billing for all financial transactions </li><li>Ability to assist with Texas Rising Star guidelines and procedures </li><li>Ability to interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands, Working Conditions and Physical Effort</p> <p>Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work. Positions in this class typically include talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching, climbing and balancing, plus pushing, pulling and lifting. Relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards. Office environment. Occasional physical effort required.</p> <p>Requirements</p> <p>Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and four (4) years of related experience.</p> <p>Equivalency Language</p> <p>Two (2) additional years of directly related experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree.</p> <p>Licenses and Certifications</p> <p>Required to participate in at least twenty-four (24) clock hours of training pertaining to understanding children and improving job performance on a yearly basis.</p> <p>This position is Security Sensitive, therefore, candidates will be subject to a criminal background check.</p> <p>The above description is an overview of the job.
