<p>Sussex County Community College is seeking a part-time Law Enforcement Instructor. Courses are in-person on campus at the Public Safety Training Academy.</p> <p>All instructors are responsible for teaching their assigned courses using a departmentally established course outline based on the master syllabus and assessing the course learning outcomes on the syllabus.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <p>Curriculum Development</p> <ul> <li>Design, revise, and implement comprehensive training curricula, lesson plans, syllabi, and assessments. </li><li>Ensure all content aligns with current law enforcement best practices, legal standards, and state/federal guidelines. </li><li>Integrate scenario-based learning and problem-solving exercises to enhance critical thinking. </li></ul> <p>Classroom & Practical Instruction</p> <p>Deliver engaging and informative instruction in various law enforcement topics, including but not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Firearms Safety and Proficiency </li><li>Defensive Tactics </li><li>Use of Force </li><li>Legal Procedures and Constitutional Law </li><li>Crisis Intervention and De-escalation </li><li>Utilize a variety of teaching methods such as lectures, simulations, role-playing, and hands-on drills. </li></ul> <p>Student Performance Evaluation</p> <ul> <li>Administer and grade written exams, practical assessments, and conduct ongoing performance evaluations. </li><li>Provide constructive feedback and mentoring to trainees. </li><li>Identify student challenges and adjust instructional methods to support learning. </li></ul> <p>Specialized Instruction</p> <ul> <li>Deliver training in specialized areas such as first aid/CPR, active shooter response, investigative procedures, and emergency vehicle operations (EVOC), depending on qualifications. </li></ul> <p>Collaboration & Communication</p> <ul> <li>Work closely with law enforcement agencies and fellow instructors to coordinate training efforts. </li><li>Maintain professional relationships and contribute to a positive learning environment. </li></ul> <p>Technology Integration</p> <ul> <li>Use instructional technology such as online learning platforms, virtual simulations, and presentation software to enhance training delivery. </li><li>Stay current with emerging instructional tools and law enforcement technologies. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of 10 years of professional law enforcement experience. </li><li>Certified Law Enforcement Instructor, NJ-PTC Certified </li><li>Proven experience in teaching, curriculum development, and student assessment. </li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills. </li><li>Proficient in the use of instructional and simulation technology. </li><li>Ability to work with diverse populations and adapt teaching strategies accordingly. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Education, or related field. </li><li>Specialized instructor certifications (e.g., Firearms Instructor, DT Instructor, Taser Instructor). </li><li>Experience with online course development or blended learning. </li><li>Prior teaching experience in a police academy or law enforcement training center. </li></ul> <p>The Learning Management System (LMS) that we use is Canvas.
