<p>Transportation Dispatcher--Transportation</p> <p>One full-time Transportation Dispatcher to work 8hrs per day, Monday through Friday on a 261 day calendar. Responsible for arranging schedules and dispatching school buses to cover regular and cocurricular routes.</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <p>Any combination of training and experience equivalent to the 12th school grade, three years of experience as a licensed motor vehicle operator, and three years of experience as a bus driver in a public school district.</p> <ul> <li> <p>Must know the rules, regulations, procedures and laws as they relate to the operation of a passenger vehicle.</p> </li><li> <p>Must be able to meet or exceed the annual state required physical examination.</p> </li><li> <p>Must be able to pass drug and alcohol testing as required by law and district policies and procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>Must possess a good driving record:</p> </li><li> <p>No moving traffic violations within the past two years and not more than one moving violation within the past three</p> </li><li> <p>No conviction of driving under the influence/or a controlled substance; railroad crossing violation; or individual 6 point conviction within the past 10 years</p> </li><li> <p>Must maintain a good driving and criminal background that reflects a professional driver and which meets all contractual, local, state and federal requirements.</p> </li><li> <p>Must have an overall presentation that is compatible with District expectations.</p> </li><li> <p>Must possess a valid State of Ohio Commercial Driver's License with School Bus Driver's Endorsement.</p> </li><li> <p>Must be at least 21 years of age or older.</p> </li></ul> <p>Job Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Receives calls for driver absences </li><li>Assigns substitute bus drivers and unassigned drivers for route coverage </li><li>Monitors the two-way radio communication when buses are on routes </li><li>Communicates via the two-way radio to drivers who are on routes </li><li>Resolves logistic problems for drivers while drivers are on a route </li><li>Assists in emergency and break-down calls, accident procedures, and other immediate response issues </li><li>Assists in coordination of routes for co-curricular activities and field trip assignments </li><li>Assists in the daily maintenance of field trip lists </li><li>Assists in entering route information into a computer </li><li>Completes required forms </li><li>Communicates with staff, students, administrators, and the public </li><li>Maintains valid Ohio Commercial Driver's License with school bus endorsement </li><li>Serves as an emergency replacement for absent bus drivers </li><li>Assists with inservice training for bus driving staff </li><li>Attends inservice and training programs </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>Job Skills and Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Skill and ability to organize bus driving routes </li><li>Ability to develop alternative plans to resolve transportation issues </li><li>Skill and ability to be clear and concise in oral communication </li><li>Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions </li><li>Ability to read and write </li><li>Ability to communicate well with people </li><li>Ability to be calm under stress </li><li>Thorough knowledge of Ohio Bus Transportation Laws and Ohio Motor Vehicle Laws </li><li>Considerable knowledge of the operation of basic bus mechanical equipment </li><li>Skill in the operation of a passenger school bus </li><li>Ability to read a map and follow road directions </li><li>Ability to maintain insurability through district fleet policy </li><li>Ability to use technology to complete daily and assigned tasks appropriate for the position </li><li>Salary range $26.86/hr to $34.28/hr* </li></ul>
