<p>The Director of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) at ArchCare provides strategic leadership and oversight for all ArchCare-affiliated ACPE-accredited CPE programs, including those at Calvary Hospital, Terence Cardinal Cooke Health Care Center, and other related ArchCare sites and ADNY Health Care Chaplaincy Apostolate sites with CPE students. This individual ensures the overall quality, consistency, and accreditation compliance of all CPE programming across the ArchCare system. The Director of CPE collaborates closely with the Director of the Health Care Apostolate, the Directors of Spiritual Care at relevant ArchCare sites, members of the Spiritual Care Departments, and Pastoral Advisory Group, and other organizational leadership.</p> <p>Directs, educates and continuously develops ArchCare's Clinical Pastoral Education Program for Terence Cardinal Cooke Health Care Center (TCC) and Calvary Hospital (CH) to provide high level chaplaincy formation through CPE with the following objectives:</p> <ul> <li>Provides intern training and operational support to pastoral care functions of Calvary Hospital and Terence Cardinal Cooke Health Care Center </li><li>Provides formation to priest chaplains assigned throughout ADNY in the health care chaplaincy apostolate for priests assigned at other health care centers through the Archdiocese of New York (ADNY) </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Provides vision, leadership, and oversight for all ACPE-accredited CPE programs within ArchCare.</p> </li><li> <p>Works collaboratively with site-based leadership to ensure effective orientation, curriculum planning, clinical placements, evaluation processes, and unit scheduling.</p> </li><li> <p>Leads the recruitment, selection, and onboarding of CPE students across all sites.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensures educational programming reflects integration of social, ethnic, cultural, and religious diversity.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides direct supervision of CPE students as needed, including conducting mid-unit and final evaluations within ACPE guidelines.</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinates the systemwide Professional Advisory Group (PAG) and maintains relationships with professional consultation committee members to ensure robust program evaluation and feedback.</p> </li><li> <p>Oversees continuous quality improvement processes for all CPE programs, including curriculum review, student outcomes assessment, and faculty development.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensures all programs meet and maintain ACPE accreditation standards, including timely submission of reports, self-studies, and site visits.</p> </li><li> <p>Directs and continuously develops ArchCare's ACPE Clinical Pastoral Education program for Terence Cardinal Cooke Health Care Center and Calvary Hospital.</p> </li><li> <p>Two accelerated extended fall/winter and spring/summer units training up to 14 students per unit and 28 students per year</p> </li><li> <p>Each unit includes apostolate priests interfaith students (including Catholic if appropriate) encompassing diverse gender, nationality, and faith compositions.</p> </li><li> <p>Works with heads of pastoral care at TCC and CH to ensure program integration at both centers for optimal operational coverage by interns. Leads quarterly education/operations coordination meeting.</p> </li><li> <p>Manages re-accreditation and audits of programs with ACPE as necessary.</p> </li><li> <p>Researches and potentially implements a CPE residency program.</p> </li><li> <p>Explores grant and other funding sources (including Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement) of potential residency or other aspects of CPE program.</p> </li><li> <p>Supports and models ArchCare's mission to foster hope, healing, and compassion for all those served.</p> </li></ul> <p>Job Qualifications and Required Skills</p> <ul> <li>Strong leadership skills. </li><li>Experience establishing new CPE programs and/or leading program expansion. </li><li>Five years or more experience supervising CPE students in healthcare settings. </li><li>Advanced understanding of chaplaincy theory, adult education, and clinical supervision models. </li><li>Strong verbal and written communication skills, including group facilitation and curriculum development. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to manage accreditation processes, maintain records, and oversee multiple programs. </li><li>Familiarity with educational technology, video conferencing, and online learning platforms. </li></ul> <p>Education</p> <ul> <li>Master of Divinity or equivalent graduate degree from an accredited theological school, seminary, or university. </li><li>Certification as a Certified Educator (or Associate Certified Educator) by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE), or eligible for certification within 12 months. </li><li>Ordination, commissioning, or endorsement by a recognized faith group. </li><li>Minimum of two years' experience supervising CPE students (including CEC experience). </li><li>Board Certification in APC, NACC, CASC, or NAJC. </li></ul>
