<p>Working Foreperson Utilities</p> <p>Department: Department of Public Works Water and Sewer Division</p> <p>Hourly Rate: $32.77 per hour, plus excellent benefits</p> <p>The Brookline DPW is seeking an experienced Utilities Working Foreperson to lead a crew in maintaining and repairing the towns water, sewer, and drainage systems. This hands-on role involves both supervising a team and performing field work, including emergency response, equipment operation, and construction support.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Receive work assignments and assign personnel and equipment; direct and instruct a work crew performing repair and reconstruction of catch basins, manholes, drains, sewer pipes, water mains, and service pipes. </li><li>Inspect, troubleshoot, and correct sewer line blockages using equipment such as Jet Vac trucks or rodding machines. </li><li>Perform and supervise general maintenance of water-related facilities, reservoirs, and associated grounds, including mowing, leaf raking, and snow removal. </li><li>Work with contractors on the construction, repair, and maintenance of water and sewer infrastructure, including trench repair. </li><li>Ensure job sites are safely organized and comply with all safety procedures; place road signs and barricades and ensure proper lighting for night work. </li><li>Operate specialized equipment, including computerized sewer inspection tools and catch basin insecticide baiting devices. </li><li>Prepare as-built drawings, complete work order data entry, and track inventory, time, and materials. </li><li>Respond to water and sewer emergencies, including leaks and drainage problems. </li><li>Perform other related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <p>Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least five years of experience in water and sewer maintenance, construction, and snow/ice removal, including supervisory experience. A valid Massachusetts Commercial Drivers License (CDL), Class B, is required. The ideal candidate has knowledge of water, sewer, and drainage systems, excavation practices, construction oversight, and safety procedures, with the ability to lead crews, communicate clearly, and operate heavy equipment safely.</p> <p>Apply now!</p> <p>$32.77 hourly plus generous benefits and excellent working conditions.
