<p>Position Title:</p> <p>Golf Turf Laborers</p> <p>Job Posting Closing Date:</p> <ul> <li>OPEN FILE RECRUITMENT* </li></ul> <p>[Applications will be considered in the order they are received.]</p> <p>Provo City is hiring seasonal laborers to perform work outside on the Timpanogos Golf Course.</p> <p>Job Details</p> <p>What is the compensation?</p> <p>Pay Rate: $10.00 - $18.00 per hour, depending upon skill level and experience. Payment will be by direct deposit.</p> <p>Seasonal Provo City employees are eligible to contribute to individual retirement savings plans through the City (401k, 457, Roth IRA, and/or Traditional IRA) and receive these great benefits: a) free admission to the Peaks Ice Arena Public Skating; b) a free Provo City Library Card; and c) discounts from various local and national vendors.</p> <p>What will I do?</p> <ul> <li> <p>Perform general maintenance duties including routine manual labor.</p> </li><li> <p>Operate mowers, dump trucks, or other light equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Grease reels and motors.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain fuel and fluid levels for all types of equipment on a daily basis.</p> </li><li> <p>Report equipment problems or failure to the equipment manager.</p> </li><li> <p>Wash, clean, and maintain equipment and grounds shop/garage.</p> </li><li> <p>Rake bunkers.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in constructing new greens, tees, and fairways.</p> </li><li> <p>Lay sod and seed tees, greens, and fairways.</p> </li><li> <p>Install paths using gravel and asphalt mixes.</p> </li><li> <p>Excavate and backfill ditches and trenches with hand tools.</p> </li><li> <p>May be assigned responsibility to care for and maintain several designated holes on the golf course.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist other crew members as needed and perform other related work as required.</p> </li></ul> <p>What do I need to apply?</p> <ul> <li> <p>Any training or experience that demonstrates an ability to perform the duties of the position.</p> </li><li> <p>Working knowledge of the safe use of hand tools and equipment required by the position.</p> </li><li> <p>Physical strength and agility enough to perform the work, ability to follow directions and communicate with the public in a courteous manner.</p> </li><li> <p>Valid, lawful driver license. Commercial driver license may be required at time of appointment.</p> </li><li> <p>Applicants must be 18 years of age.</p> </li></ul> <p>What are the hours and duration?</p> <p>Positions are for a fixed term from approximately February through December. Hours of operation are 4:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., Sunday through Saturday. Employees will work 4- to 8-hour shifts within these hours. Actual schedule will vary throughout the season, including weekends and holidays, and will be coordinated with supervisor.</p> <p>What are the physical and environmental factors?</p> <p>This position requires using equipment, bending, reaching, stooping, climbing, and lifting items of up to 50 lbs.; exposure to outside weather conditions including rain, sun, and varying/extreme temperatures; and interacting with the public in potentially tense or confrontational situations.</p> <p>What is the selection process?</p> <p>This is an open file posting. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications listed above to be eligible for consideration.</p> <p>If selected for hire, candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal.
