<p>Summary:</p> <p>The In School Intervention Coordinator (ISIC) is under the direction of the principal or administrator designee to promote the safety, well-being, behavioral and educational success of students by teaching and implementing behavior management/intervention strategies and social emotional learning programs as students continue in their academic participation in the In School Suspension setting.</p> <p>Essential Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Provides close supervision to students who have committed CMS code of student conduct violations and have been assigned to the In School Intervention Center (ISIC) </li><li>Implements social emotional learning curriculum; provides individual and group instruction to students regarding appropriate social skills and behaviors; proactively monitors behavior by observing and interacting with students. </li><li>Provides academic assistance for students assigned to the ISIC. </li><li>Addresses the needs of students appropriately that may have individualized plans (IEP's, 504's, Behavior Plans, etc.) </li><li>Analyzes, interprets, and maintains accurate student academic, attendance and behavioral data reports (test/assignment grades, discipline, intervention, and progress monitoring reports) </li><li>Establishes working relationships with students, staff, parents, and other community agencies to understand CMS policies and procedures that promote optimal behavioral and academic outcomes for students. </li><li>Effectively equips students with skills and strategies that allow them to positively reintegrate back into the classroom post ISIC assignment. </li><li>Serves as a liaison between the student, parents, CMS non-traditional program/school, regular CMS schools, community agencies and other educational programs; assists students, parents, staff, and community agencies in, procedures and guidelines. </li><li>Implements Social Emotional Learning curricula (Restorative Practices, Caring Schools Curriculum, etc.) in the ISIC setting and maintains records of the student's progress with SEL lessons. </li><li>Provides immediate practical assistance to students to increase necessary social, behavioral, and academic skills needed to be successful in the school setting. </li><li>Attends and/or participates in all staff meetings, team meetings, and pertinent in-service sessions. </li><li>Performs related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Education and Experience:</p> <p>Minimum</p> <ul> <li>Associate's Degree in Human Services field and 2 years of experience in Human Services field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience </li></ul> <p>Desirable</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Human Services field </li><li>Active Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) Certification </li><li>2+ years' experience in a mental health or human service program preferably working with behaviorally complex children. </li></ul> <p>Licensing / Certification Requirements: Certifications in NCI/CPI, Restorative Practices and/or Caring Schools Community preferred</p> <p>Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of social emotional learning interventions </li><li>Knowledge of educational virtual platforms (Zoom, Google Classrooms, etc.) </li><li>Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and behavior management principles. </li><li>Ability to develop and implement effective individual and group behavior management plans. </li><li>Ability to collect, analyze, and summarize data to document student academic and behavioral progress and modify approaches as necessary </li><li>Ability to provide support and feedback to faculty in managing student behavior. </li><li>Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships. </li><li>Effective de-escalation skills </li><li>Ability to value diversity. </li><li>Ability to use computer programs such as Outlook, Excel, and Word. </li><li>Ability to maintain confidentiality. </li><li>Ability to work with adolescents and families. </li><li>Ability to effectively explain the school system's disciplinary policies and procedures. </li><li>Ability to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of current goals. </li></ul>
