<p>Iowa MENTOR Community Outreach & Engagement VISTA</p> <p>Iowa MENTOR is a statewide organization dedicated to promoting, supporting, and building high-quality mentoring relationships by strengthening programs, systems, and policies that deliver proven results for youth across Iowa. To ensure young people have access to supportive relationships, the Community Outreach & Engagement VISTA will play a key role in advancing Iowa MENTOR's mission. The VISTA will strengthen mentor recruitment efforts, expand community connections, and amplify the impact of mentoring throughout the state. Specific responsibilities will include: Supporting Iowa MENTOR program partners in recruiting and retaining mentors. Developing creative incentives to increase volunteer engagement. Helping to establish and launch an Iowa MENTOR Alliance to connect mentoring programs with other youth-serving organizations. Designing a social media strategy and enhancing the Iowa MENTOR website to raise awareness about the benefits of mentoring. Elevating the visibility and reach of Iowa MENTOR's mission statewide. Through this work, the VISTA will help build stronger connections, expand mentoring opportunities, and improve the lives of young people across Iowa. Volunteer Iowa's office is located in Des Moines and the ideal candidate will live within commuting distance of Des Moines to serve in a hybrid work environment, however, candidates throughout the state will be considered. This role supports mentor recruitment and retention by developing incentives, gathering partner feedback, and collaborating with Iowa MENTOR staff and the Leadership Council to identify needs and solutions. The VISTA will help build the new Iowa MENTOR Alliance by shaping its mission and vision, mapping statewide youth-serving organizations, and preparing for a 2026 launch. They will strengthen outreach through a social media strategy, updated website content, and stories that highlight mentoring's impact.
