<p>The Mechanical Development Engineer (MDE) - Mechanical Integration (Housings & Castings) is responsible for the design, development, integration, and release of housings, castings, and related mechanical integration components used within electric drive module and generator assemblies. The MDE works collaboratively with cross-functional teams and customers to deliver robust engineering solutions that meet performance, durability, cost, quality, and timing requirements.</p> <p>Key responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Design, develop, and release housing, casting, and structural mechanical components. </li><li>Ensure effective mechanical integration across assemblies, including interfaces and tolerance management. </li><li>Perform engineering calculations related to structural integrity, vibration, fatigue, and thermal effects. </li><li>Create and maintain DFMEAs for assigned components and sub-systems. </li><li>Support CAE activities, validation testing, and prototype build events. </li><li>Developing engineering specifications for the product. </li><li>Creating prototype build/control plans, reviewing and approving prototype material for builds, and signing off mechanical hardware prototypes for usage in internal and external testing. </li><li>Create Advanced Design Verification Plan and Report (ADVP&R) to validate the component performance, and issue laboratory work orders to direct technicians in conducting component testing. </li><li>Collaborate with Manufacturing to ensure casting, machining, and assembly feasibility. </li><li>Interface with suppliers, Purchasing, and Supplier Development Engineers on technical topics. </li><li>Support customer engineering discussions, reviews, and issue resolution. </li><li>Participate in engineering change management, VA/VE, and NBO concept development. </li></ul> <p>What we're looking for</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field. </li><li>Minimum 8 years of mechanical engineering experience. </li><li>Experience in housing and casting design. </li><li>Working knowledge of GD&T and component integration. </li><li>Experience with DFMEA, DVP&R, root cause analysis and Teamcenter. </li><li>Strong communication and collaboration skills. </li></ul> <p>Salary Range:</p> <p>$115,200 - $162,000</p> <p>Internal Use Only: Salary</p> <p>Global Terms of Use and Privacy Statement</p> <p>Carefully read the BorgWarner Privacy Policy before using this website.
