We strive to have a workplace where people can grow personally as well as professionally. </li></ul> <p>Role and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Provide mental health, behavioral and academic support to students in grades K-4 </li><li>Provide direct counseling services for identified students </li><li>Provide consultation and support for faculty & staff to meet the needs of identified students, including managing student referrals from School Counselors </li><li>Serve on a Wellness team to manage the needs of all students </li><li>Partner with families to support student wellness concerns </li><li>Consult with outside resources when a student's needs expand beyond the services of the school counselor </li><li>Plan for and facilitate social skills groups focused on socio-emotional skill development appropriate for students in grades K-4 </li><li>Assist school leadership to assess and address student needs </li><li>Consult with school leadership regarding student behavior concerns and develop and facilitate the implementation of behavior plans as needed </li><li>Additional duties as assigned by the Principal </li><li>Assist in daily school operations including the smooth running of arrival and dismissal </li><li>When applicable, participate in the school's RTII process to set behavioral goals </li><li>Provide crisis management response and intervention outside of school hours as required </li></ul> <p>Counseling Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge:</p> <ul> <li>Experience counseling students in an urban school preferred. </li><li>Ability to speak Spanish is strongly preferred. </li><li>Knowledge of tiered systems of support including the delivery of Tier 1 SEL Curriculum and supports. </li><li>Familiarity with the state and federal legal regulations governing special education, Section 504 and Section 51A </li><li>Clinical experience with students experiencing social, emotional, or behavioral issues. </li><li>Understanding the impact of trauma on student learning and social emotional functioning. </li><li>Understanding of behavior management techniques and methods including date collection, functional behavioral assessments, and implementing behavioral intervention plans if necessary. </li><li>Citizenship, residency or work visa is required </li></ul> <p>Additional Requirements:</p> <p>Three to five years of experience as a School Adjustment Counselor or School Social Worker preferred</p> <p>Proven organizational skills</p> <p>Excellent interpersonal relationship skills</p> <p>Demonstrated communication skills</p> <p>MA DESE Educator Licensure - School Adjustment Counselor or School Social Worker required</p> <p>Pay Range</p> <ul> <li>$59,988 to $93,358 depending on experience and licensure </li></ul> <p>Non-Discrimination Statement</p> <p>Lawrence Public Schools is dedicated to maintaining a workplace and learning environment free from discrimination based on race, color, religion, national origin, pregnancy, gender identity, sexual orientation, marital/civil union status, ancestry, place of birth, age, citizenship status, veteran status, political affiliation, genetic information, disability, or any other basis prohibited by law.
