<p>This position serves as an Inventory Management Specialist in the Commodity Management Division of the Logistics Service at the VA Connecticut Health Care System and the supported catchment area, with responsibility for the inventory management of all expendable supplies (EX) and durable medical equipment (DME) in the assigned area(s).</p> <p>The duties of this occupation include but are not limited to the following :</p> <ul> <li>Plans and reviews all inventory processes, functions, and related systems. </li><li>Conducts wall-to-wall and periodic inventories. </li><li>Maintains perpetual inventory accounts for expendable items. </li><li>Develops and supports the creation of acquisition strategies and standardization initiatives to acquire and purchase durable medical equipment. </li><li>Analyzes data that impact procurement decisions. </li><li>Conducts market research on product pricing and performance. </li><li>Researches opportunities for and conducts analysis of potential cost savings, efficiencies, and process improvements using quantitative and historical usage patterns. </li><li>Utilizes best practices, principles and tools, concepts and methodologies to determine and evaluate supply system performance. </li><li>Identifies and rectifies inventory management issues. </li><li>Conducts short, mid and long-term advanced planning for expendable items and durable medical equipment. </li><li>Performs analytical work to manage, regulate, coordinate and exercise control over expendable supplies. </li><li>Analyzes and advises customers on supply/durable medical equipment purchase recommendations. </li><li>Conducts data/information analysis for acquisition planning associated with durable medical equipment. </li><li>Researches alternative sources for equipment procurement. </li><li>Administers an expendable inventory management program. </li><li>Coordinates with property managers for disposal of surplus or excess supplies. </li><li>Recommends actions to eliminate problems involved in delivering services to inventory customers. </li><li>Advises and informs stakeholders concerning the management, control and accountability of expendable items in use. </li><li>Acts as a central point of contact for the coordination of material support and the resolution of logistics problems. </li><li>Prepares submissions to obtain approval and/or funding for national level expendable supply contracts. </li><li>Maintains inventory control records in an automated system. </li><li>Compiles and analyzes performance measures and implements process improvements. </li><li>Conducts effectiveness/efficiency reviews. </li><li>Computes requirements for supplies and durable medical equipment. </li><li>Utilizes automated inventory management system to maintain current inventory data. </li><li>Researches and develops solutions to complex and routine problems. </li><li>Traces sequences of inventory management transactions to resolve questions. </li><li>Manages inventory, independently sets initial stock and par levels, and reorders points and resolves issues. </li><li>Formulates improved inventory management procedures and practices. </li><li>Determines the means and methods to resolve issues and improve operations. </li></ul> <p>Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level GS-09 without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met.
