<p>DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF WORK</p> <p>STARTING SALARY: $46,368 per year</p> <p>Position will typically hire at minimum pay and follow a step progression to maximum</p> <p>CLASS SUMMARY:</p> <p>This position is responsible for operating assigned vehicles and assisting staff in performing various repairs.</p> <p>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>TYPICAL CLASS ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (See back of this bulletin for complete job description)</p> <p>1.Operates a variety of vehicles to transport equipment and materials.</p> <p>2.Operates equipment, hand tools, and power tools in performing various labor tasks in an assigned area.</p> <p>3.Assists staff in performing sewer, water main, and related repairs.</p> <p>4.Cleans and maintains vehicles, tools, and related equipment.</p> <p>5.Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance, including attendance at required meetings.</p> <p>This job description is intended to represent only the key areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments will vary depending on the business needs of the department.</p> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS</p> <p>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>Operating a variety of vehicles; </li><li>Applicable tools and equipment; </li><li>Methods of performing standard repairs; </li><li>Vehicle maintenance requirements; </li><li>Safe work methods and practices. </li></ul> <p>SKILLS:</p> <ul> <li>Operating vehicles; </li><li>Utilizing variety of hand and power tools and equipment; </li><li>Performing standard repairs; </li><li>Cleaning and maintaining vehicles and equipment; </li><li>Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, and others sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction. </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:</p> <p>Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.</p> <p>Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of forces constantly to move objects.</p> <p>Incumbents may be subjected to mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibration, fumes, odor, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, extreme temperatures, intense noise, and travel.</p> <p>EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING/LICENSING REQUIREMENTS</p> <p>EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:</p> <p>High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.); related experience preferred; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.</p> <p>LICENSING REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>Valid State of Michigan Commercial Driver's License Class A with Air Brake Endorsement.* </li><li>At time of Application applicant MUST submit a copy of their Michigan CDL A, CDL B, or a CDL A Temporary Instruction Permit (TIP). Applicants hired without a CDL A License, will be hired as a laborer, and must receive their Michigan CDL A License within 6 months from date of hire to remain employed. </li></ul> <p>POST-EMPLOYMENT OFFER REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>Satisfactory completion of medical examination, driving record check, and criminal background check prior to start date. </li><li>All appointees are subject to a one-year probationary period. </li></ul>
