The University Nurse is responsible for providing professional nursing services to all eligible students and employees for work related illness/injuries. Is competent in the use of Electronic Health Records. </li><li>Clear verbal communication. </li><li>Maintain confidentiality. </li><li>Review Entrance Physicals and follow up on omissions. </li><li>Analyzes the health status of the student and compares this data with norms to determine health care needs. </li><li>Independent assessment of students/employees and formulation of nursing diagnosis. </li><li>Collect specimens and perform lab tests per physician/nurse practitioner order/standing orders. </li><li>Identifies goals and plans for nursing care. </li><li>Differentiate between health concerns that can be addressed at Health Services and those that need referral in collaboration with MD/NP and per standing orders. </li><li>Application of standing orders to meet the health care needs of students. </li><li>Carries out nursing care actions which promote, maintain, and restore the well-being of students. </li><li>Prepare, administer medications and treatments for students as ordered by NP/MD following nursing principles and techniques. </li><li>Involves students in their health promotion, maintenance, and restoration. </li><li>Provide instruction and education to individual students. </li><li>Participate in wellness activities, orientation, and other interdepartmental events. </li><li>Evaluates the effectiveness of the quality of nursing care provided. </li><li>Participates in laboratory proficiency testing, quality control. </li><li>Participates in quality assurance and improvement of services provided. </li><li>Demonstrates sound judgment based on current nursing principles and ethics. </li><li>Participates in continuing education programs to maintain licensure. </li></ul> <p>Nursing duties in support of the day-to-day operation of Health Services:</p> <ul> <li>Care of sick/injured students and provide education and health maintenance as described above. </li><li>Receive/Give report on student care to/from other clinical staff as indicated. </li><li>Ability to operate medical equipment and perform laboratory testing accurately (administer oxygen, nebulizer treatments, autoclave instruments, centrifuge, EKG, BP machine, automated urinalysis machine, etc.). </li><li>Follow Bloodborne Pathogen/Hazardous waste policy/procedure. </li><li>Phone communication - triage of incoming calls; making referrals; follow up on labs, x-rays, etc.. </li><li>Stock medication/supplies as needed. </li><li>Maintain quality, safety, and cleanliness of equipment/instruments and environment </li></ul> <p>Participate in Health Service/University programs in support the Millersville University Division of Student Affairs as assigned:</p> <ul> <li>Orientation. </li><li>Wellness Programming. </li><li>Training resident life staff. </li><li>Training Peer Health Educators. </li><li>Assist in maintaining inventory. </li><li>All other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>One year professional nursing experience. </li><li>Current PA State Board Registered Nursing License . </li><li>Experience doing complete patient assessments. </li><li>CPR & AED certification. </li><li>Experience using electronic medical records. </li><li>Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. </li><li>Ethics and confidentiality </li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook. </li><li>Commitment to inclusive practices and working with diverse student populations. </li><li>Successful interview. </li><li>Successful completion of three background checks. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree. </li><li>Experience in ER, Family Practice, Urgent Care, or College Health. </li><li>Phlebotomy experience. </li></ul> <p>Essential Functions</p> <p>Please Note: These duties are to be performed with or without an accommodation.
