Learn more and apply today!</p> <p>Must have a valid Class "A" or "B" commercial driver's license.Starting pay for this position is $26.68.</p> <p>Introduction:</p> <p>The Department of public works is collection of departments that provide a direct service to the City of Racine residents by maintaining various pieces of infrastructure around the City.</p> <p>PositionPurpose:</p> <p>Under the direction of the Superintendent of Public Works or his designee, collect solid waste and recyclable materials placed at the curb/alley line. Also responds to all phases of snow and ice control.</p> <p>Click on the link below to watch the informational video regarding the job opportunity below.</p> <p>https://www.canva.com/design/DAGQv39Gt_0/euar9cy1Whu9T0v8w4AUEQ/watch?utm_content=DAGQv39Gt_0&utm_campaign=designshare&utm_medium=link2&utm_source=uniquelinks&utlId=he0e3ef0e49</p> <p>Essential Duties</p> <p>Essential Duties:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Operate a 25-yeard rear loading refuse truck</p> </li><li> <p>Drive refuse vehicle to and from Transfer Station</p> </li><li> <p>Remove and dispose of solid waste materials placed out for collection</p> </li><li> <p>Remove and deliver recyclable materials to various collection sites</p> </li><li> <p>Operate equipment and perform tasks associated with snow and ice control, which includes snow plowing, spreading salt, and shoveling sidewalks and crosswalks</p> </li><li> <p>Must maintain a consistent and reliable attendance record</p> </li><li> <p>Perform related tasks as assigned by supervision</p> </li></ul> <p>EnvironmentalConditions of the Position</p> <p>Exposure to loud noise, exhaust fumes, traffic, dust, and outdoor weather conditions (including extreme heat and cold).</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent. </li><li>Must have a valid Class "A" or "B" commercial driver's license. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required</p> <ul> <li> <p>Ability to follow written and oral instructions.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to read and understand various street maps and routing associated with these maps.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to operate various trucks and equipment in a safe and proficient manner.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to communicate with the public in a proficient and courteous manner.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to follow established guidelines, procedures, and policies designed to maintain a safe and efficient work place.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to perform physical tasks as assigned.</p> </li></ul> <p>Supplemental Information</p> <p>Physical Demands of the Position</p> <p>Involves the regular, and at times sustained, performance of heavier physical tasks, such as walking over rough or uneven surfaces. Bending, stooping, kneeling, leaping, jumping down (at least one foot). Standing in place or continual walking, lifting, or carrying moderately heavy (50 pounds) items.</p> <p>May involve the complex operation of gasoline, electric or diesel powered machinery requiring the manipulation skills in performing a variety of tasks with the full range of hand and power tools.</p> <p>Equipment Used</p> <p>25 Yard Rear Loading Refuse Truck and Pick-up Truck</p> <p>This job description is intended to identify essential duties and also illustrates other types of duties that may be assigned.
