<p>Job Description</p> <p>Coalinga College</p> <p>Part-time Assistant Athletic Trainer</p> <p>Temporary Position</p> <p>$25.00 per hour</p> <p>Up to 25 hours a week</p> <p>Position Duties</p> <p>SUMMARY</p> <p>Under the direction of the Athletic Trainer, supervises the care of the student-athletes. The assistant athletic trainer is responsible for prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation of athletic injuries within the College's comprehensive athletic training program.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Attend home athletic events and practices and render emergency first aid and other treatment in event of injury to players; tape and wrap ankles, knees, wrists, elbows, shoulder and ribs of athletes prior to practice or games. </li><li>Confer with physicians as necessary; prepare and maintain records and reports related to athletic injuries, medical releases, insurance and treatment of injuries. </li><li>Administer first aid to injured athletes and students engaged in various school sports; implement physician's instructions in treatment of athletic injuries. </li><li>Maintain training area and equipment in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner. </li><li>Operate a variety of equipment such as ultrasound, whirlpool, muscle stimulation, hydrocollator, and other therapeutic equipment; operate a district vehicle as assigned. </li><li>Operate a variety of office machines including computer terminal and other office equipment and knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite and its components. </li><li>Incorporate the use of technology in the delivery of computerized presentations, and Microsoft Office Suite. </li><li>Perform all related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>Knowledge/Skills/Abilities</p> <ul> <li>A variety of sports and athletic activities. </li><li>Principles and practices of providing work direction. </li><li>Basic principles of anatomy and physiology guidelines. </li><li>Symptoms of treatment for athletic injuries. </li><li>Safety and protective equipment used in sports. </li><li>Taping, bandaging, conditioning and rehabilitation. </li><li>Record-keeping techniques. </li><li>Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary. </li><li>Administer first aid treatment to students engaged in various school sports. </li><li>Identify unsafe or broken training equipment. </li><li>Operate a variety of therapeutic equipment and machines. </li><li>Identify symptoms of serious injuries. </li></ul> <p>Physical Abilities</p> <p>Dexterity of hand and fingers to operate a variety of therapeutic machines and equipment, standing and working for extended periods of time, bending at the waist, kneeling or crouching to administer various types of treatment, hearing and speaking to exchange information, and lifting objects weighing up to 75 pounds.</p> <p>Licenses andCertificates</p> <p>Requires a valid driver's license.</p> <p>Working Conditions</p> <p>Indoor and outdoor environment. Travel within and out of district. Contact with blood and other body fluids, contact with abusive or aggressive individuals, and exposure to individuals with excessive body odor.</p> <p>Qualification</p> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>Any combination equivalent to: Graduate from CAATE approved athletic training program. Bachelor's degree or Master's degree, passed the Board of Certification Exam and a current certified athletic trainer.
