<p>What You'll Do</p> <p>Part time Speech-Language Pathologist (16 hours/week)</p> <p>This unique position provides essential "at the elbow" support for our Pediatric Otolaryngology team, focusing on patients with complex resonance, voice, and dysphagia (swallowing) abnormalities. Unlike generalist SLP roles, this provider works within a high-functioning multidisciplinary clinic to evaluate and manage:</p> <ul> <li>Velopharyngeal Insufficiency (VPI): Specialized assessment and therapy for speech disorders related to palate function. </li><li>Aerodigestive Tract Disorders: Integrated management of complex breathing and swallowing issues. </li><li>Specialized Diagnostics: Direct collaboration during clinical procedures to ensure immediate, accurate treatment planning. </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities*</p> <ul> <li>Speech-Language Pathologists in this position will maintain standards of clinical productivity. </li><li>Diagnose speech, language and cognitive-communicative disorders. </li><li>Evaluate voice disorders. </li><li>Evaluate oral-pharyngeal swallowing disorders, using clinical as well as instrumental evaluation </li></ul> <p>tools.</p> <ul> <li>Design and implement treatment programs to facilitate improved communication and swallowing </li></ul> <p>skills.</p> <ul> <li>Maintain standards of clinical productivity. </li><li>Counsel patients and their families concerning social, behavioral, and psychological problems </li></ul> <p>associated with communication and swallowing disorders.</p> <ul> <li>Provide documentation of evaluation data, test/re-test data and speech-language progress, in </li></ul> <p>accordance with insurance and regulatory agency requirements.</p> <ul> <li>Provide patients and families with recommendations and referrals to appropriate health care </li></ul> <p>sources.</p> <ul> <li>Participate in staff meetings regarding individual patients with physicians, nurses, insurance </li></ul> <p>representatives and allied health professionals.</p> <ul> <li>Represent a lead clinical area/program within the institution as well as to professional and </li></ul> <p>community organizations and agencies.</p> <ul> <li>Provide the Director of Speech-Language Pathology with relevant statistics and clinical data </li></ul> <p>regarding a specific lead area or clinical program</p> <ul> <li>Orient and mentor newly hired Speech-Language Pathologists, providing education and training, </li></ul> <p>as appropriate.</p> <ul> <li>Instruct and supervise graduate students in speech pathology, including planning activities, </li></ul> <p>observing and evaluating students.</p> <ul> <li>Develop and participate in in-service presentations and medical grand rounds. </li><li>Process patient care orders using the electronic ordering system may be required in certain </li></ul> <p>areas.</p> <ul> <li>Perform other related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications*</p> <ul> <li>A Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology is necessary. </li><li>Current licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist in the State of Michigan is necessary. </li><li>A Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) awarded by the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) is necessary. </li><li>Progressively complex clinical experience in Speech-Language Pathology, with no less than 5 years of evaluation/treatment experience. </li><li>This classification requires Primary Source Verification. </li><li>Speech-Language Pathologists in this role must have experience in: </li></ul> <p>Managing children with speech, language, and swallowing disorders.</p> <p>In provision of patient and family counseling and education, as well as development of independent therapeutic programs.</p> <p>Desired Qualifications*</p> <p>Experience in managing children with voice and resonance disorders is preferred.</p> <p>Experience in use of nasometry measures to manage resonance as well as outpatient video fluoroscopic/endoscopic swallow evaluations is preferred.</p> <p>Experience with evaluation and treatment of social communicative and cognitive-communication disorders with specific knowledge and implementation of Evidence-Based Practice is preferred.</p> <p>Work Schedule</p> <p>Part Time 16-hour position. Monday-Friday, no weekends. Hours will vary based on department needs.</p> <p>Work Locations</p> <p>Children and Women's Hospital - Ann Arbor</p> <p>Modes of Work</p> <p>Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department.
