This employee works dynamically, collaboratively and inter-professionally to be responsive to professional development needs across the system, supporting the highest standards of quality and safety in patient care and nursing practice with resultant improved patient outcomes. This employee ensures that professional development programs are facilitated by appropriately prepared educational professionals using evidence based best practices, including technology, to meet the needs of nursing staff and interdisciplinary partners in order to accomplish organizational, facility and Office of Professional Practice strategic goals. The employee actively participates in quality improvement (QI), EBP, and nursing research processes across the system. The employee supports the core behaviors, standards, values, and missions of the organization, accrediting bodies, and profession of nursing as a professional role model.</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <p>Clinical Expert</p> <ul> <li>Serves as an example to nursing staff in the delivery of excellent patient care </li><li>Collaborates with leadership to develop, evaluate, and implement standards of patient care / care planning and professional practice with attention to quality, service, cost effectiveness, comfort, safety, age specific implications, and cultural competence </li><li>Serves as a patient / family advocate, incorporating respect for and acknowledgement of cultural diversity and individual patient needs </li><li>Promotes an environment consistent with the core concepts of Patient Centered Care, and demonstration of the core values </li></ul> <p>Educator</p> <ul> <li>Develops action plans, obtains resources, and completes evaluation metrics in a timely manner to ensure workplace learning and performance goals are achieved </li><li>Facilitates the ongoing education, competency and professional development of the staff to meet competency requirements in accordance with departmental objectives and appropriate accreditation standards </li><li>Plans, prepares, and maintains materials for use in competency based educational programs, utilizing current standards, regulations, and evidenced based resources </li><li>Maintains current evidence-based knowledge in nursing professional development </li><li>Collaborates with stakeholders to assess learning needs for staff of all levels, designs and implements programs and competency strategies to address identified learning needs </li><li>Incorporates principles of adult learning and evidence-based education in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of education and competency programs </li><li>Participates in learning technologies via simulation, LMS, virtual classroom, and multimedia </li><li>Serves as an educational consultant and/or facilitator to outside institutions as well as hospital committees, task forces, and projects </li><li>Maintains involvement in professional, community, and clinical specialty activities </li><li>Serves as a consultant to clinical staff, physicians, administration, Nursing school programs, and the public for clinical education and the clinical nursing care of hospitalized patients </li></ul> <p>Change Agent</p> <ul> <li>Identifies and supports needed opportunities for change </li><li>Develops programs that assist attendees to embrace change as a desired process to support best practice </li><li>Challenges existing practice when not aligned with current best practices </li><li>Demonstrates flexibility </li></ul> <p>Researcher</p> <ul> <li>Expands the scientific base of nursing practice by initiating and/or participating in continuous quality improvement and evidence-based practice activities and/or research studies </li><li>Critically analyzes current nursing research methods and outcomes for inclusion in the curriculum content of education to support patient care </li><li>Incorporates current research findings into educational activities </li><li>Supports and demonstrates validated evidence-based practice </li><li>Disseminates research findings though clinical presentations and publications </li></ul> <p>Other Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Maintains compliance with all company policies, procedures and standards of conduct </li><li>Complies with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to Certification)</p> <p>Education:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited program (required) </li><li>Master's degree in nursing, leadership, or education (required) </li><li>DNP, PhD or EdD (preferred) </li></ul> <p>Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of five (5) years as a Registered Nurse in area of clinical specialty (required) </li><li>Minimum of two (2) years' experience in education, teaching or professional development (required) </li></ul> <p>Licensure:</p> <ul> <li>Active Kentucky Registered Nurse License or compact license with privileges to work in Kentucky (required) </li></ul> <p>Certification:</p> <ul> <li>Professional nursing certification in professional development, leadership or education (required) </li><li>American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider (required) </li><li>Professional nursing certification (ANCC Recognized) in clinical specialty (preferred) </li></ul> <p>Job Competency:</p> <p>Knowledge,
