<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Special Education Teacher</p> <p>The Special Education teacher is responsible for planning and delivery of curriculum. The teacher is also responsible for writing IEP's, participating in PPT's, and meeting with parents. The teacher must also be skilled in providing support and supervision to paraprofessionals and general educators to implement IEP's.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Uphold administrative regulations, school rules, policies as determined by the state and local boards of education and negotiated agreements. </li><li>To evaluate and develop educational plans for students. </li><li>To implement Individual Education Programs for students in the class. </li><li>To interpret needs of students in the program to other school staff and parents. </li><li>To evaluate student progress and report to other school staff and parents. </li><li>To maintain a daily and weekly schedule. </li><li>To function as a member of the Planning and Placement Team in: evaluating and recommending educational programming for referred students. </li><li>To provide consultation to classroom teachers in working with children with disabilities. </li><li>To assist in development of program needs analysis, objectives, activities and evaluation for the special education program. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Connecticut Special Education Teacher Certification required (165 or 065). </li><li>Experience with 4th, 5th, & 6th grade students; including academic content, lesson modification, delivery of services within an inclusive environment. </li><li>Must have strong collaboration and communication skills. </li><li>Strong assessment and report writing skills. </li><li>Strong understanding of students with disabilities in all areas. </li></ul> <p>If interested, please apply on our website at www.sterlingschool.org - District - Employment - Applitrack</p> <p>EoE</p>
