<p>Description:</p> <p>The Director of Services for Students with Disabilities provides supervision and leadership for all staff in the department, including oversight of the following: personnel, student satisfaction, budget, technology, operations, assessment, planning, and compliance. The Director is the lead administrator, trainer, and consultant for all disability issues related to students. The director implements workshops to assist students, faculty, and staff regarding the provision of reasonable accommodations and to promote understanding and adherence to compliance issues.</p> <p>At Carroll University, we are committed to identifying and employing strategies to support our goal to be and remain a socially just organization. Therefore, we seek applicants who can demonstrate their understanding of justice and who can inspire our increasingly diverse student population.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Understand and analyze tests and interpret medical and psychological documentation. </li><li>Analyze student academic difficulties and situations to determine the best course of action resulting in coordinating and monitoring the use of academic accommodations. </li><li>Assist parents, high schools and care providers with developing appropriate accommodation plans for students. </li><li>Direct the development, review, and revision of written policies, guidelines, and procedures for determining reasonable accommodations </li><li>Develop disability awareness curriculum for faculty and staff promoting enhanced disability inclusion, community awareness and retention for students with disabilities. </li><li>Act as a liaison, advocate and resource person for students with disabilities. </li><li>Conduct information/in-service training sessions for faculty, staff and students regarding program objectives and compliance with ADA/504 and other disability issues </li><li>Investigate compliance complaints as appropriate </li><li>Interprets federal/state laws and regulations to develop and implement policies, procedures and forms to achieve compliance with the ADA </li><li>Maintains ADA files; ensures appropriate documentation is received to support accommodation claims and associated decisions. </li><li>Maintain and manage appropriate and current confidential records for all registered students with disabilities </li><li>Forecast budget implications of accommodations </li><li>Participate in collaborative programming with other members of the Student Life staff and/or University community </li><li>Participates as a member of the administrative team for student emergencies. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned </li><li>Candidates must be willing and able to support and advance the University mission. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <p>Education and/or Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in social work, counseling, disability services, student affairs, higher education, or related field required. </li><li>At least five years of progressive experience in disability support services, policy compliance, or related field </li><li>10 years of relevant leadership experience in the disability field may be substituted for the Master's degree </li><li>Experience with and thorough understanding of various disability regulations within an educational setting </li><li>Demonstrated experience training and educating stakeholders about disability accommodations, best practices, and compliance </li><li>Knowledge of various assessments and diagnostic tools used to determine accommodation needs and the ability to interpret the results of the assessments is required </li><li>Strong familiarity with applicable state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to disabilities including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and best practices in supporting access for students with disabilities </li></ul> <p>Technology Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Understanding of the various technologies employed in disability support </li><li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite </li></ul> <p>Human Relations Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Outstanding communications skills, including written, verbal, and interpersonal </li><li>Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and a passion for serving the diverse student population </li><li>Excellent organizational skills, with high attention to detail and accountability </li><li>Student focused sense of urgency and responsiveness </li><li>Crisis/emergency management experience </li></ul> <p>Please submit a cover letter and resume for this position along with this electronic application.</p> <p>Carroll University makes employment opportunities available to qualified individuals whose skills and experience make them suitable candidates for placement.
