<p>The Licensed Practical Nurse position is located at the Tennessee Valley Healthcare System (TVHS), Murfreesboro, TN campus in Geriatric Extended Care (8B).</p> <p>VA Careers - Licensed Practical Nurse: https://youtube.com/embed/Ae85IP1Oiz4</p> <p>Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional</p> <p>Job Duties include, but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Assists with data collection for outpatients and new admissions </li><li>Provides for the patient's privacy </li><li>Observes, reports, and documents signs and symptoms of patient's general condition; attends patient care conferences; provides input into the Nursing Care Plan and/or the Interdisciplinary Plan of Care </li><li>Provides direct nursing care to adult and geriatric patients according to nursing standards and Medical Center policy and procedure </li><li>Implements established care plans </li><li>Reports and documents progress or changes in patient's behavior and/or physical condition to the RN and in the medical record </li><li>Performs check of emergency equipment as directed </li><li>Recognizes and initiates emergency measures consistent with training </li><li>Provides care for pre-operative and post-operative patients, including those having special procedures and treatments </li><li>Assures the presence of a signed informed consent prior to procedures and diagnostic tests </li><li>Assists in evaluating psychological and educational needs </li><li>Reports changes in patient's behavior and or physical condition to the registered nurse and/or physician </li><li>Uses identified learning needs to provide patient teaching and documents teaching in the medical record </li><li>Identifies age specific considerations, e.g., the geriatric population's proneness to visual or hearing impairment </li><li>Teaching may include pre- and post-op care, diabetic self-care, activities of daily living, coughing, deep breathing, suctioning and tracheostomy care, self-administration of medication and additional procedures as directed by the registered nurse </li><li>Performs such diagnostic procedures as cardiac monitoring (in specialty areas) </li><li>Obtains and records VSs (temperature, B/P, Pulse Oximetry, I&O, heights, weights, and glucose monitoring) </li><li>Recognizes deviations from VSs within normal range.
