<p>Under general supervision, coordinates and directs the afternoon, evening and weekend operation of the nine Nash County Convenience Centers. This role involves coordinating with vendors to ensure resource availability, supporting facility operations and staff, conducting regular inspections, addressing customer inquiries, and scheduling staff for site coverage. Work is performed under general supervision of the Solid Waste Manager.</p> <ul> <li>Assist with coordination of vendors to ensure adequate resources are available for disposal containers at all sites </li><li>Assist with evening and weekend operations at convenience centers </li><li>Assist with weekly safety inspections of all convenience centers </li><li>Assist with scheduling of staff to ensure convenience centers have coverage </li><li>Assist with complaint investigation of the Solid Waste Ordinance </li><li>Assist with customer questions and concerns. </li><li>Ensure all convenient centers have adequate supplies. </li><li>Assist with training of new employees on Solid Waste Operations. </li><li>In the absence of the Solid Waste Manager be a point of contact for Solid Waste Staff </li><li>Performs related tasks as required. </li><li>Working knowledge of state and local laws and regulations pertaining to solid waste management. </li><li>Ability to use and operate various hand tools and a stationary compactor. </li><li>Ability to maintain complete and accurate records. </li><li>Ability to perform minor maintenance activities on compactor and to do light grounds-keeping duties. </li><li>Ability to exercise tact, courtesy and firmness in frequent contact with customers, contractors, and the general public. </li><li>Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments. </li><li>Knowledge: Basic understanding of waste management or recycling processes; training will be provided. </li><li>Experience: At least 1-2 years of customer service experience, preferably in a public-facing or operational environment. </li><li>Technical Skills: General understanding of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to maintain records </li><li>Communication Skills: Verbal and written communication skills to interact with diverse customers and staff. </li><li>Organizational Skills: Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. </li><li>Physical Requirements: Ability to sit for extended periods, occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, and work in an outdoor environment. </li></ul> <p>High school diploma or equivalent required.</p>
