Read on to find out more about this opportunity:</p> <p>The award-winning Marin County Fair is the County's premier community event with over 120,000 attendees annually. Held annually over the 4th of July holiday, fairgoers enjoy five days of art, rides, concerts, fair food delights, shopping and so much more. </p> <p>The Department of Cultural Services is looking for Utility Staff to work at the upcoming Marin County Fair-July 1-5th, 2026. There are multiple contingent hire(temporary-fair only) positions.</p> <p>This contingent (temporary) position performs a variety of physical labor tasks necessary to accommodate events scheduled both indoors and outdoors at Marin Center facilities and fairgrounds. Marin Center Utility Worker duties include:</p> <ul> <li>Setting up and arranging a variety of equipment such as furniture, barricades, portable seating for meetings, conventions, productions and other events according to specified charts. </li><li>Set up directional signage and equipment in parking lots, </li><li>Vacuum, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, stripping and waxing floors, painting, rough carpentry and unplugging drains. </li><li>Checking and securing doors and windows </li><li>Washing windows and walls, washing and disinfecting restroom facilities </li><li>Waste Management, including landfill, recycling, and compost bins. </li><li>May need to use power tools, pressure washer,? </li><li>Completing work order forms as required. </li></ul> <p>Hours: Flexible schedule: Sunday - Saturday early morning and evenings. Shift hours may range from 4-8 hours a day and are based on operational need.? </p> <p>Must be able to work the 2026 Marin County Fair, July 1st -5th the set-up June 1st - July 1st AND the tear-down July 6th - 17th.</p> <p>Our Highly Qualified Candidate:?The ideal candidate has a good understanding of janitorial work and room set-up needs. ?They are team players and take pride in their work. The ideal candidate must have a positive attitude and be professional with both internal and external customers.</p> <p>KNOWLEDGE OF:</p> <ul> <li>General knowledge of the methods, materials, chemicals, and disinfectants used in building cleaning operations. </li><li>Potential hazards and safety precautions associated with building cleaning and minor maintenance work. </li></ul> <p>ABILITY TO:</p> <ul> <li>Understand charts, sketches and plans sufficient to set up a variety of equipment according to specifications. </li><li>Perform physical work that requires coordination, agility and strength. </li><li>Learn and assist in minor repair and maintenance tasks. </li><li>Adapt to changing work assignments. </li><li>Follow written and verbal instructions. </li><li>Deal with the public effectively and courteously. </li><li>Be flexible to changes in work assignments at any given time. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES</p> <p>Equivalent to one year of full-time custodial experience or two years of part-time work as a custodial or extra-hire utility worker, under qualified supervision, which provides the following knowledge and ability requirements.</p> <p>SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS</p> <p>Work schedules include weekends and evenings at Marin Center facilities.</p> <ul> <li>Must be able to stand and walk for six (6) hour shifts. </li></ul> <p>If you have questions concerning this position announcement, please contact Dario Aguilar at dario.aguilar@marincounty.gov.</p> <p>The compensation for this position is $34.98 per hour, corresponding to Step 5 of the Marin Center Utility Worker classification (Job Code: 1132).</p> <p>Open & Continuous Recruitment: Because this recruitment is Open and Continuous, applicants are encouraged to submit completed applications as soon as possible.
