<p>Description</p> <p>St. Louis County Government Department of Transportation and Public Works is looking for individuals interested in becoming a Maintenance Driver II. These positions will report to an assigned District and lead a crew on assignments performing skilled roadway maintenance work including heavy equipment operation. Examples of assigned crews include on grass cutting, tree trimming, concrete, asphalt and other specialty roadway maintenance crews.</p> <p>The typical work hours are Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. The Sweeping Crew position work hours will be Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.</p> <p>The typical starting salary will be $23.50 per hour. For more information regarding this program, please visithttps://studentaid.gov/manage-loans/forgiveness-cancellation/public-service.</p> <p>Each snow season Department employees that arerequired(as defined by their job description) to work snow will receive a $6 per hour increase when they report for emergency snow removal services.</p> <p>Examples of Duties</p> <p>Operate heavy equipment, vehicles and machinery requiring a Commercial Drivers License in maintenance activities.</p> <p>Perform general roadway or grounds maintenance and sign manufacturing, installation and service on a specialized crew.</p> <p>Repair and replace asphalt roadways and surfaces.</p> <p>Maintain, repair or install concrete structures or surfaces.</p> <p>Perform snow removal.</p> <p>Care for and clean designated indoor and outdoor areas.</p> <p>Provide care and propagation for trees, shrubs, turf and plants.</p> <p>Some positions lead lower level workers operating heavy equipment.</p> <p>Perform administrative tasks associated with work completion.</p> <p>Perform other duties as required or assigned.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Requires two years of experience in general maintenance or related work or an equivalent amount of training and experience. Possession of a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements is also required.</p> <p>A valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements will be considered. However, a Class A CDL will be required within the first 6 months of employment.</p> <p>Additional Information</p>
