Here is a job description for the role that helps to outline expectations for the position.</p> <p>Job Title: Clinical School Social Worker</p> <p>Reports To: School Principal/Director of Special Education</p> <p>Job Summary:</p> <p>The Clinical School Social Worker is responsible for providing direct and indirect social work services to students, families, and consulting with school staff to promote and support students' academic success, social-emotional development, and overall well-being. This position involves assessing student needs, developing and implementing interventions, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, and advocating for students and families. The School Social Worker operates within the ethical guidelines of the social work profession and in compliance with school district policies and state and federal regulations. Other responsibilities can be assigned by district administration as needed.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities and Expectations:</p> <p>I. Clinical Assessment and Intervention:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Conduct comprehensive risk assessments as needed</p> </li><li> <p>Develop and implement individualized and group counseling interventions based on evidence-based practices to address a range of issues such as anger, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, peer conflicts, and family stressors.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation services for students experiencing acute emotional distress or behavioral crises.</p> </li><li> <p>Develop and implement behavior management plans in collaboration with school staff and families.</p> </li><li> <p>Facilitate therapeutic groups focusing on social skills, emotional regulation, coping strategies, and other relevant topics.</p> </li><li> <p>Refer students and families to appropriate community resources for specialized services (e.g., mental health, substance abuse, housing, food insecurity).</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor student progress and adjust interventions as needed, documenting all services provided.</p> </li></ul> <p>II. Collaboration and Consultation:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Collaborate effectively with teachers, administrators, school psychologists, counselors, nurses, and other school personnel to develop and implement comprehensive support plans for students.</p> </li><li> <p>Meet regularly with the HKIMS teacher that casemanages the students in your program.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, and 504 plan meetings to contribute to the development of appropriate goals, objectives, and accommodations.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide consultation and education to school staff on issues related to child development, mental health, behavior management, and family dynamics.</p> </li><li> <p>Act as a liaison between the school, families, and community agencies to ensure coordinated and comprehensive support for students.</p> </li><li> <p>Develop and deliver professional development workshops for school staff on relevant topics (e.g., trauma-informed practices, cultural competency).</p> </li></ul> <p>III. Family Engagement and Support:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Build and maintain positive relationships with students' families, serving as a resource for the families</p> </li><li> <p>Regularly communicate and provide family sessions to support the wraparound needs of students</p> </li><li> <p>Conduct home visits as needed to assess family needs and build rapport (with appropriate safety protocols).</p> </li><li> <p>Empower families to access resources and navigate school and community systems.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with families and outside providers to maintain a clear understanding of outside services which can include social-emotional supports, as well as medical treatment plans.</p> </li></ul> <p>IV. Advocacy and Prevention:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Participate in the development and implementation of school-wide prevention programs addressing issues such as bullying, substance abuse, and violence.</p> </li><li> <p>Promote a positive school climate that supports the social-emotional well-being of all students.</p> </li></ul> <p>V. Documentation and Compliance:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date records of all student interactions, assessments, interventions, and communications in accordance with professional standards and district policies.</p> </li><li> <p>Add documentation and progress monitoring to IEP goals/objectives, as well as input progress monitoring on CTSeds and develop new goals and objectives for Annuals and Triennals</p> </li><li> <p>Adhere to all ethical guidelines of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Code of Ethics.</p> </li><li> <p>Comply with all federal and state laws, including FERPA, IDEA, and relevant child protection mandates.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepare clear and concise reports, summaries, and recommendations.</p> </li></ul>
