<p>The E.W. Scripps company is seeking a Station Broadcast engineer. This role is based out of Syracuse, NY and will be responsible for the day-to-day technical operations and administration of a station. Responsible for monitoring, controlling and reporting the operability of the station's central cast rack and transmitter operations as well as have the opportunity to work closely the broadcast team in the maintenance of the studio, transmitter, and distribution delivery equipment.</p> <p>Living in Syracuse, NY offers a unique blend of urban amenities and small-town charm. With a strong sense of history and ongoing revitalization efforts, Syracuse continues to grow and evolve, offering residents a high quality of life in Central New York.</p> <p>WHAT YOU'LL DO:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Monitor, control and report to the operability of station's central cast rack and transmitter operations</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor and report station outages</p> </li><li> <p>Work with team in daily operation of studio, transmitter, and distribution delivery</p> </li><li> <p>Troubleshoot television transmitter and facility issues</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain systems responsible for supporting the on-air operation, such as HVAC, networking, electrical, and mechanical</p> </li><li> <p>Partner with legal and corporate in the maintenance of the station public file in accordance with FCC requirements. Track and confirm FCC online station files</p> </li><li> <p>24/7 on-call availability to ensure continuous operation of the station</p> </li><li> <p>Liaise with all cable, DBS, and Telco operators within market</p> </li><li> <p>Operate, log and maintain EAS tests and equipment</p> </li><li> <p>Proactively engage with necessary third parties to resolve technical issues in an expedited manner as they arise;</p> </li><li> <p>Carry out troubleshooting as needed or escalate to engineering support for further diagnosis</p> </li><li> <p>May be responsible for certain administrative duties related to business and operation transactions</p> </li><li> <p>Adhere to company policies and procedures including corporate guidelines and best practices</p> </li><li> <p>Other duties as assigned</p> </li></ul> <p>WHAT YOU'LL NEED:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Associates degree in Engineering (Electrical or Electronic) or a related field preferred or equivalent vocation/technical experience</p> </li><li> <p>5-7 years of experience in broadcast engineering preferred</p> </li></ul> <p>WHAT YOU'LL BRING:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Comfort and willingness to learn, implement, and operate new technology related to broadcasting and content delivery</p> </li><li> <p>Strong proficiency with computers to include Microsoft Office Suite</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent verbal and written communications skills</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines</p> </li><li> <p>Ability and willingness to travel to transmitter sites and travel throughout the region on an as needed basis</p> </li></ul> <p>ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds</p> </li><li> <p>Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company required insurance limits</p> </li></ul> <p>#LI-SM2</p> <p>#LI-Onsite</p> <p>If you are a current Scripps employee, please do not apply on this site.
