<p>Linworth United Methodist Church</p> <p>Columbus, Ohio 43235</p> <p>Part Time , On-Site</p> <p>Organist</p> <p>Linworth United Methodist Church - Columbus, Ohio</p> <p>Part-Time | Approximately 10 hours/week</p> <p>Compensation: $25 - $35 per hour (approx. $13,000 - $18,200 per year)</p> <p>The Organist will serve as a skilled musical partner in LUMC's traditional worship service, providing organ and piano accompaniment for the Chancel Choir, soloists, and congregational song.</p> <p>Position Summary</p> <p>Working closely with the Director of Music for Traditional Services and pastoral staff, the Organist contributes to the selection of service music and ensures musical continuity across rehearsals and worship. This role calls for a skilled keyboardist who is comfortable in a collaborative, liturgically-grounded environment.</p> <p>Reports to:</p> <ul> <li>Director of Music for Traditional Services (primary supervisor) </li></ul> <p>Commitments:</p> <ul> <li>Commitment to Christian faith </li><li>Commitment to the ministry and mission of LUMC </li><li>Commitment to the shared values of LUMC staff </li><li>Commitment to the policies, procedures, and practices outlined by LUMC staff and leaders </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Skilled musician on pipe organ and piano; ability to improvise in a variety of liturgical and choral contexts </li><li>Advanced keyboard training helpful but not required if commensurate experience is demonstrated </li><li>Experience playing in worship settings helpful but not required </li><li>Ability to work collaboratively as part of a music and ministry team </li><li>Bachelor's degree in music performance or equivalent experience helpful but not required </li></ul> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Play organ and/or piano at Sunday traditional worship services and other special services. </li><li>Accompany the Chancel Choir at weekly evening rehearsals and at additional rehearsals for special presentations, as requested by the Director of Music with reasonable prior notice. </li><li>Participate in the selection of service music with the Director of Music and pastoral staff; hymns will be selected in consultation with the preaching pastor. </li><li>Process requests for the purchase of special music in coordination with the Director of Music. </li><li>Meet regularly with the Director of Music to coordinate music for upcoming services and special events. </li><li>Attend staff meetings as requested. </li><li>Notify the Director of Music when the church organ or pianos need tuning or repair. </li><li>Arrange a qualified substitute when ill or on vacation; notify the Director of Music in advance and ensure the substitute has access to the instrument for practice. </li><li>Play for weddings and memorial services with reasonable prior notice.
