<p>Job Description: Springfield Technical Community College (STCC) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Architecture and Building Technology (ABT). STCC's ABT program is uniquely positioned in Western Massachusetts as the only associate degree program in the region that fully integrates architectural design, building construction technology, sustainability, and project management. The program prepares students for direct entry into the architecture and construction industries, transfer into four-year institutions, or advancement within the skilled trades and building professions. The successful candidate will demonstrate a broad, practice-based understanding of both architectural design and applied building systems, reflecting the interdisciplinary nature of the ABT curriculum.</p> <p>Position Overview:</p> <p>The faculty member will teach a range of courses that may include architectural drafting and design, CAD/BIM/Revit, construction systems, estimating, sustainability, building codes, and project coordination. The ideal candidate will bring industry experience that bridges architectural design, building technology, and construction management practices and will contribute to program development, student advising, industry partnerships, and community engagement. This position requires a commitment to hands-on, applied learning and student-centered instruction within a diverse community college environment.</p> <p>Requirements: Master's degree in Architecture, Building Technology, Sustainable Design, Building Construction Management, or a closely related discipline (A bachelor's degree in a related field with significant industry experience may be considered if accompanied by a commitment to completing a master's degree).Professional experience in one or more of the following: Architectural designBuilding constructionConstruction managementBuilding inspection or code enforcementSustainable building systems Advanced proficiency in essential industry skills including design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or other BIM platforms.Demonstrated teaching or training experience related to architectural design, building technology, and/or construction management practices.Working knowledge of Massachusetts State Building Code, IBC/IRC, and energy codes.Demonstrated commitment to STCC's access mission, student success, inclusive teaching, and active learning.Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <p>Construction Supervisor License (CSL) in Massachusetts.Massachusetts Building Inspector Certification.Massachusetts Registered Architect.LEED Accreditation, Passive House certification, or other recognized sustainable design credentials.Autodesk certification or advanced BIM expertise.College-level teaching or workforce training experience.Experience with curriculum development, program coordination, or accreditation processes.Industry connections within architecture, construction, sustainability, or municipal planning.Experience incorporating applied, project-based, or service-learning approaches into coursework.</p> <p>Program-Specific Strengths We ValueProgram-Specific Strengths We Value</p> <p>Because STCC's ABT program bridges architecture and building technology at the associate degree level, we value candidates whose experience reflects:</p> <p>Understanding of the design-to-construction workflowAbility to teach design concepts and practical skills related to architecture, building technology, and/or construction management.Knowledge of sustainable design principles integrated with code compliance.Familiarity with workforce pathways, transfer alignment, and industry credentialing.Commitment to building industry partnerships and advisory board engagement</p> <p>EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT:</p> <p>Applicants who do not meet the qualifications as stated above are encouraged to put in writing precisely how their background and experience have prepared them with the equivalent combination of education, training and experience required for the responsibilities of this position.</p> <p>Additional Information: Salary: $57,289-$71,085 annually salary commensurate on experience and according to Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) Benefits: Yes Union: MCCC Grant Funded: No Closing Date: Open Until Filled</p> <p>All candidates must have legal authorization to work in the United States.
