<p>This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.</p> <p>The Social Worker is assigned to the Social Work Service, under Homeless Program located at the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center and works closely with the Homeless team and community care programs to ensure that coordination between these entities is facilitated and Veterans' direct care, referral, and follow-up is based on a continuum of services.</p> <p>Duties may include, but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>The social worker effectively provides case management services while utilizing professional skill, objectivity, insight, clinical training, and experience to interpret data and to identify viable treatment options and recognizing potential high risk factors, acuity, and needs for services. </li><li>The social worker verifies the Veteran's status, eligibility for VA medical care, and eligibility of program participation. </li><li>The social worker is responsible for ensuring that homeless Veterans are considered as primary participants for program acceptance. </li><li>Referral, screening and admission criteria recognizes program eligibility, prioritization of subsets of the homeless Veteran population, requirements of the PHAs, and other policy, regulation, or law pertaining to program administration. </li><li>The social worker develops the screening procedures to involve a multidisciplinary team approach and is responsible to ensure criteria and procedures are maintained. </li><li>The social worker provides primary input for program participant selection based on structured interviews and clinical assessments. </li><li>The social worker establishes, implements, and maintains referral and screening procedures for potential HUD/VASH Veteran participants that meet national policy as well as the needs of medical center mental health services and residential programs. </li><li>The social worker regularly conducts and participates in outreach activities including field interviews, assessments and referrals for homeless Veterans contacted in the community, shelters, and "on the streets," as well as those who are referred by VA residential programs, medical centers or outpatient clinics. </li><li>The social worker maintains current and establishes new relationships with other community-based service providers for the homeless, and when appropriate, represents VA at community service provider meetings. </li><li>The social worker will be expected to perform collateral duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>VA Careers - Social Work: https://youtube.com/embed/enRhz_ua_UU</p> <p>Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional</p> <p>Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm</p> <p>Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Not Authorized</p> <p>EDRP Authorized: Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply for incentive. When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).</p> <p>Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)</p> <p>Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.</p> <p>Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.</p> <p>Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA</p> <p>Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)</p> <p>Telework: Not Available</p> <p>Virtual: This is not a virtual position.</p> <p>Functional Statement #: 40048F; 40045F</p> <p>Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not Authorized</p>
