We are looking for talented and highly-motivated individuals who demonstrate a natural desire to support the meaningful work of community oncologists and the patients we serve.</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>The Assistant Manager, Data Abstraction will help lead a team of Clinical Data Abstractors responsible for accurately and efficiently abstracting clinical data from medical records and other sources. The Assistant Manager, Data Abstraction will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality, consistency, and timeliness of data abstraction efforts for organizational initiatives and outcomes research projects, as well as fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement within the team. Additionally, the Assistant Manager, Data Abstraction will oversee quality assurance processes and drive initiatives to optimize data abstraction processes through innovation and best practices. Responsibilities include:</p> <ol> <li>Leadership and Team Management: </li></ol> <ul> <li>Provide leadership, direction, and mentorship to a team of Clinical Data Abstractors, ensuring clarity of roles, responsibilities, and expectations. </li><li>Foster a collaborative and high-performance team culture that values excellence, innovation, and professional growth. </li><li>Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and support the professional development of team members. </li></ul> <ol start="2"> <li>Quality Assurance and Process Improvement: </li></ol> <ul> <li>Oversee quality assurance processes to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of abstracted clinical data. </li><li>Develop and implement strategies to optimize data abstraction processes, workflows, and tools, incorporating best practices and innovative approaches. </li><li>Perform audits on data abstraction processes and outcomes to identify opportunities for improvement and ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements. </li><li>Partner with internal stakeholders, including IT, research, and clinical teams, to pilot and implement new solutions that enhance the speed, accuracy, and scalability of data abstraction processes. </li></ul> <ol start="3"> <li>Protocol Adherence and Compliance: </li></ol> <ul> <li>Ensure adherence to study protocols, data abstraction guidelines, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maintain consistency and compliance with regulatory requirements. </li><li>Stay abreast of updates and revisions to study protocols and abstraction guidelines, communicating changes to the team and implementing necessary adjustments. </li></ul> <ol start="4"> <li>Performance Monitoring and Reporting: </li></ol> <ul> <li>Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor the performance of the Clinical Data Abstractor team. </li><li>Prepare regular reports and presentations to communicate performance trends, achievements, and areas for improvement to the Director of Innovation Optimization and other stakeholders. </li></ul> <ol start="5"> <li>Collaboration and Communication: </li></ol> <ul> <li>Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including researchers, clinicians, data analysts, and other stakeholders, to support research objectives and data analysis efforts. </li><li>Serve as a liaison between the Clinical Data Abstractor team and other departments, fostering open communication and collaboration to achieve common goals. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of 4 years of experience in clinical data abstraction, with demonstrated leadership and management experience. </li><li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and identify opportunities for optimization. </li><li>Strong understanding of oncology terminology, disease staging, treatment modalities, and medical coding systems. </li><li>Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems and data abstraction tools. </li><li>Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Health Information Management, Nursing, Biology, or related discipline preferred. Advanced degree or certification in oncology or clinical research is a plus. </li><li>Proven track record of driving process improvement initiatives and achieving measurable results. </li><li>Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members. </li><li>Commitment to upholding ethical standards, patient confidentiality, and regulatory compliance. </li></ul>
