Acts as lead worker for assistant cooks, cook helpers, and Center work base learning students.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>Essential Duties & Job Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Prepare and cook quantity of food required according to menu and number of students and children. </li><li>Assist in instructing assistant cooks and student food services trainees in the safe, hygienic method of preparing and serving appetizing, appealing meals. </li><li>Ensure work area is safe, clean, and sanitary at all times. </li><li>Prepare foods as directed for special Center functions and visitors. </li><li>Assist in cleaning kitchen work areas and cafeteria following each meal. </li><li>Ensure minimum waste through efficient storage, inventory, and food utilization. </li><li>Help cook and serve meals, ensuring that prepared foods are held and served at proper temperatures, and all left over foods are properly chilled and stored. </li><li>Maintain accountability of students and property; adhere to safety practices. </li><li>Cultivate and maintain a climate on Center which is free of harassment, intimidation, and disrespect to provide a safe place for staff and students to work and learn. </li><li>Promote student attainment of career success standards through modeling appropriate skills, mentoring students, monitoring skill acquisition and intervening when inappropriate behavior is observed. </li><li>Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. </li><li>Perform all other duties as requested. </li></ul> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Prepare and cook nutritious meals. </li><li>Assist with daily meal production. </li><li>Ensure all food preparation meets food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations. </li><li>Follow standardized recipes, portion controls, and production schedules. </li><li>Operate and maintain commercial kitchen equipment safely and efficiently. </li><li>Monitor food temperatures and properly store, label, and rotate food items. </li><li>Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen workstations, storage areas, and food preparation areas. </li><li>Assist with inventory management, receiving deliveries, and verifying quality and quantity of food supplies. </li></ul> <p>Job Requirements</p> <p>Mandatory:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or general education degree (GED). </li><li>One (1) year experience in the food service industry. </li><li>Successfully pass any background check and/drug test required on the contract. </li><li>Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's certificate with 30 days of employment. </li><li>Must be able to obtain a ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification within 30 days of employment. </li></ul> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>Previous experience in a commercial or institutional kitchen. </li><li>Culinary Arts certification from an accredited institution. </li></ul> <p>Disclosures</p> <p>Chugach Government Solutions is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
