Position:</p> <ul> <li>ELA Interventionist </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Work with individual students or small groups of students to provide educational interventions and progress monitoring. </li><li>Work with school personnel by assisting in determining Intervention Plan and Individualized Education Program services when appropriate. </li><li>Maintain records of interventions and progress monitoring to ensure process fidelity. </li><li>Attend team/parent meetings as requested; provide input to teams regarding student academic strengths and weaknesses. Communicate with parents about their child's progress consistently and provide program information. </li><li>Provide high quality Tier 2 and Tier 3 support to students who are at-risk in reading and writing. </li><li>Use identified scientific, research-based interventions focused specifically on individual student difficulties. </li><li>Maintain data-based documentation of continuous monitoring of student performance and progress during interventions. </li><li>Provide the high-quality instruction time needed to move students to grade level proficiency. </li><li>Support school-wide assessments including STAR, DRA, and CFAs, and assist with the analysis of the data to identify students in need of intervention services. </li><li>Provide data to the school teams and participate in decisions about student progress. </li><li>Utilize tracking system to maintain lists of students participating in interventions. </li><li>Planning & Development: This position includes a planning period every day. Interventionists will plan lessons and instruction that may include assess student work, plan differentiated lessons bases on ongoing review of student work and other data collected, collaborate with team teachers on curriculum and assessment, and participate in reflective practice and professional development. </li><li>Discipline / Classroom Management: follow the school's prescribed discipline, classroom management, and classroom routines to ensure a consistent environment across the school for all students. </li><li>Attend training and professional development as assigned by the Principal. </li><li>Perform related duties and responsibilities as requested by the Principal. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Minimum bachelor's degree in education or related field. Master's is preferred. </li><li>Massachusetts Teachers license in Reading/Academic Specialist, English 5-8, or Special Education Moderate Disabilities Pk-8 or 5-12. </li><li>Training and experience with DRA, STAR/ATI assessments, Wilson, Orton Gillingham, or other formal reading intervention program preferred </li><li>SEI endorsement or willingness to participate in SEI endorsement course </li></ul> <p>Terms of Employment:</p> <ul> <li>Reports to: School Principal </li><li>Rate: In accordance with the Unit A contract found here </li></ul> <p>The New Bedford Public Schools do not discriminate on account of age, race, color, sex, gender identity, gender expression, ancestry, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, military status, genetics, or disability that does not prohibit performance of essential job functions in employment for potential employees.
