<p>Description:</p> <p>Provides direct assistance to the surgeon(s) during surgical procedures within scope of practice for Certified Surgical First Assistant</p> <p>Reports to: Director - Surgical Services</p> <p>Positions patient to give best exposure for surgical procedure, using stabilizing equipment when necessary, while maximizing patient comfort and safety.</p> <p>Drag Edit Delete</p> <p>Provides visualization of the operative site using appropriate method, including manipulation of tissue and materials, retraction, sponging, suctioning, and irrigation.</p> <p>Drag Edit Delete</p> <p>Utilizes appropriate technique to achieve temporary and permanent hemostasis.</p> <p>Drag Edit Delete</p> <p>Assists with body plane closure, application of wound dressings, and securing of drainage systems.</p> <p>Drag Edit Delete</p> <p>Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment and supplies. Ensures good working order of equipment and instruments.</p> <p>Drag Edit Delete</p> <p>Determines specific equipment needed for the procedure and ensures safe operation prior to the surgical procedure</p> <p>Drag Edit Delete</p> <p>Passes instruments to physician during surgery. Continually accounts for number and location of instruments and supplies during surgery.</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <p>Minimum Education</p> <p>Graduate of a Surgical Tech or Surgical First Assistant Program - Required</p> <p>Drag Edit Delete</p> <p>Required Skills</p> <p>Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
