<p>Cable Design Engineer</p> <p>Job Title: Cable Design Engineer Location: Wallingford, CT</p> <p>Reports to: Cable Design Engineering Manager Created: June 2025</p> <p>FLSA: Exempt</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>The Cable Design Engineer is responsible for developing and optimizing RF coaxial cable solutions for military, aerospace, wireless communications and industrial applications. The candidate will be responsible for designing, evaluating, and improving cable products with demanding mechanical and RF performance requirements.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>Apply materials knowledge and basic RF/microwave principles to design innovative new cables employed in a wide range of applications and environments. Effectively and accurately review documents and correspondence relating to customer requirements and translate into new cable designs, material purchasing specifications, and standard manufacturing instructions. Validate new and existing materials for impact to electrical, mechanical, and environmental cable performance. Maintain and control thorough and accurate documentation for cable designs and manufacturing. Collaborate with manufacturing and production teams to refine cable designs for cost-effectiveness and durability, and transition new cables into manufacturing. Apply formal problem-solving techniques to determine root cause of non-conforming products or raw materials, and implement corrective and preventative action (CAPA) plans Identify and address opportunities to continuously improve our cables, raw materials and processes. Assess for regulatory, quality, cost, risk and environmental impact. Plan and execute cable performance evaluations using statistical techniques including Design of Experiments (DoE) and Statistical Process Control (SPC) to ensure compliance to industry and Times Microwave standards Create procedures and provide training and coaching to other technical and manufacturing employees.</p> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <p>BS or MS in mechanical, electrical or materials engineering Minimum of 2 years of design or manufacturing engineering experience Fluent with cable manufacturing processes including wire drawing, braiding and shielding, taping and serving, extrusion, bunching, cabling and stranding. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills. Excellent computer skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Familiarity with Solid Works CAD software.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>5 years of design or manufacturing engineering experience Thorough knowledge of material properties and processes. Experience with processing polymers and fluoropolymers. Experience with RF/microwave coaxial cable designs.</p> <p>Up to 20% travel.</p>
