<p>Salary:</p> <p>$19.20 - $19.20</p> <p>Department:</p> <p>Culture & Recreation, Recreation</p> <p>Division:</p> <p>Recreation Facility Operations</p> <p>FLSA:</p> <p>Non-Exempt</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>Summer Seasonal Position</p> <p>Must be 18 years old by hire date.</p> <p>This Recreation Leader job posting is for the 3 openings at the St. Julian Devine Community Center.</p> <p>This role will assist in conducting recreation activities in community centers, playgrounds, and other voluntary recreation facilities.</p> <p>Examples of Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Monitors, issues, and secures center facilities, supplies, and equipment. </li><li>Sets up necessary accompaniments for events, programs, etc. conducted in the center, including arranging chairs, tables, and sporting and exercise equipment. </li><li>Welcomes visitors and answers incoming telephone calls. </li><li>Notifies patrons of activity schedules and registration requirements. </li><li>Monitors spectators and participants at sports events to ensure orderly conduct. </li><li>Obtains and maintains attendance records of participants. </li><li>Keeps score at various sporting events (volleyball, gymnastics, swimming, softball, etc.). </li><li>Operates audio and or visual equipment, as necessary, for presentations, programs and activities. </li><li>Monitors the safety and the activities of children during recreational trips or tours. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Basic Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Three months of related experience </li><li>High school diploma, general education degree (GED), or active pursuit of a high school diploma; or an equivalent combination of education and experience </li><li>Ability to obtain a driver's license, CPR certification, and First Aid Certification with 6 months of employment </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>One year of experience </li></ul> <p>The City of Charleston is firmly committed to Equal Employment Opportunity ( EEOC) as a fundamental policy to be implemented and observed in our daily operation.
