<p>Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):</p> <p>Bachelor's Degree. Two (2) years of full-time experience in technical theater, including lighting, scenery, sound, or set construction. Supervisory experience in technical theater. Audio/Visual (AV) experience. Experience with theatrical lighting, theatrical sound, and digital video projection.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <p>Bachelor's Degree (or foreign equivalent or higher) in Theater or Audio/Visual field. Experience interfacing with performing artists, external sound companies, or stage managers. Experience in lighting design, programing digital light boards and execution and installation of lighting design. Experience in sound design, running digital sound boards and execution and installation of sound design. Experience in set design or execution and installation of set design. Experience with various forms of digital projection, including cinema projection. Experience with using computers and computerized theatrical equipment.</p> <p>Brief Description of Duties:</p> <p>The Technical Director (TD), under the supervision of the Production Manager and Assistant Director, is responsible for the technical stage arrangements for the Staller Center's various events. This position will manage theatrical equipment, events, and production requirements in the Main Stage (1000 seat concert hall/proscenium theater), Recital Hall (375 seat concert venue), and the Paul W. Zuccaire Gallery. This position is one of two TDs as well as one Assistant Technical Director (ATD), all of whom report to the Production Manager. This position involves theatrical lighting, single purchase counterweight fly systems, and video projection with the experience and ability to set up, operate and maintain them daily. This position will manage the operation, implementation, and technical coordination of assigned technical calls and/or events. This position is also responsible for supervision and training of student and professional stagehands, and other production-related duties as assigned. Along with installing lights and sound for incoming companies and departmental, campus and community groups the Technical Director is responsible for supervising student and professional stagehands. The Technical Director is also responsible for the implementation of all set-ups and take-downs for events in the center, including digital film projection. The Technical Director is responsible for implementation of all video, including live performances. The Technical Director interfaces with clients and other users of the facilities to implement their technical needs.</p> <ul> <li>Supervise and manage the various performances in Staller Center, through assigned calls. Train, delegate and supervise all crews working on Staller Center events. Supervise the set-up and take-down of all outside companies and organizations that rent the facility, including interfacing with artists, and artist management as well as outside vendors. Assume all duties related to "night of performance," including supervising all technical crews and interfacing with performers and clients, box office and front of house staff. Ensure performance needs and deadlines are met, while preserving a positive culture. </li><li>Supervise the construction, rigging, projections, sound and lighting for all Staller Center events. Install lighting, sound and staging as required for events. This involves advanced technical knowledge of theatrical lighting practices. Coordinates the lighting for all Staller Center Art Gallery events. Planning of technical requirements for Staller Center events. Work in cooperation with the sound and piano technicians in their use of performance spaces. </li><li>With the other Technical Director, maintain the security and safety of performance facilities and sound and light booths. Instruct the students on the proper way to safely use and operate stage machinery. Supervise and implement the maintenance of all backstage spaces and equipment. </li><li>Support Production Manager and Staller Center staff with communication, attendance at staff meetings, and through preparation for events. Liaise with the House Manager to ensure that the backstage and front of house areas are in constant communication to properly run a performance. </li><li>Oversee digital film projection and training of projectionists, including maintenance and screenings of all films in the Staller Center. </li><li>Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and department mission. </li></ul> <p>Special Notes:</p> <p>This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Non Exempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.</p> <p>In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $3,400 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.</p> <p>For this position, we are unable to sponsor candidates for work visas.</p> <p>Must be capable of climbing three flights of stairs frequently and occasionally work on the theater grid above the stage. Must be capable of communicating by phone with clients as well as in person.
