<p>Addison Trail High School</p> <p>Teacher Assistant- Science</p> <p>Available: January 5, 2026</p> <p>Title: TEACHER AIDE (SCIENCE)</p> <p>Reports To: Department Chair</p> <p>Duration: 10 Months</p> <p>Purpose Statement</p> <p>The job of Teacher Aide (Science) is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional program within the Science department with specific responsibility for organizing, maintaining and providing equipment, glassware, chemicals, organisms and related materials in proper quantities for use in classroom laboratory experiments.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <p>Conducts physical inventories for the purpose of verifying stock and identifying losses.</p> <p>Distributes experiment and instructional materials to classroom labs for the purpose of ensuring availability of chemicals and/or equipment for science experiments.</p> <p>Maintains manual and electronic documents, files and records for the purpose of providing written reference; and/or meeting mandated requirements.</p> <p>Maintains equipment and lab areas for the purpose of ensuring a safe and sanitary environment.</p> <p>Prepares lab for daily operations (e.g. setting up/turning on equipment, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of equipment/materials for scheduled labs.</p> <p>Procures science supplies for the purpose of ensuring the availability of items for classroom use.</p> <p>Reports observations and incidents relating to specific students (e.g. accidents, fights, inappropriate social behavior, violations of rules, safety conditions, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information to appropriate instructional and/or administrative personnel.</p> <p>Researches price and/or availability of science lab resources for the purpose of securing required equipment and/or materials within budget.</p> <p>Responds to emergency situations (e.g. injured student, fights, etc.) for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.</p> <p>Other Functions</p> <p>Attends meetings and in-service presentations for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions.</p> <p>Monitors students (e.g. hallways, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.</p> <p>Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.</p> <p>Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.</p> <p>Skills, Knowledge and Abilities</p> <p>SKILLS are required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include adhering to safety practices; handling hazardous materials; operating equipment used in the Science Laboratory.</p> <p>KNOWLEDGE is required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: safety practices and procedures; background in chemistry; laboratory equipment; and hazardous material storage and disposal.</p> <p>ABILITY is required to schedule activities; gather and/or collate data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others. Problem solving is required to identify issues. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: consistently attending work; meeting deadlines and schedules; working with detailed information/data; working with frequent interruptions; communicating with diverse groups; and maintaining confidentiality.</p> <p>Responsibility</p> <p>Responsibilities include: working under direct supervision; guiding others. Demonstrate professional work ethic and excellent interpersonal skills to promote a positive image of District 88. There is a continual opportunity to have some impact on the organization's services.</p> <p>Working Environment</p> <p>The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 20% sitting, 30% walking, and 50% standing. The job is performed under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness and in a clean atmosphere.</p> <p>Education High school diploma or equivalent.</p> <p>Licenses Educator License with Stipulations - Paraprofessional endorsement or higher</p> <p>FLSA Status Non-Exempt</p> <p>Salary: $18.40 ( PARA/SUB License)</p> <p>$19.88 ( PEL License)</p>
