Evaluates needs for investment information for internal and external users and develops reports that provide information needed for effective decision making and assessment of invested assets. Maintains an effective internal control environment over investments. Ensures department alignment and coordination with all other areas of the company to achieve corporate business strategies and vision.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Leads and manages work area activities including, but not limited to, team/department workflow, establishing and monitoring quality goals, reviewing work completed by direct reports, ensuring quality investment accounting practices and communication to associates and management. Supports VP in developing and achieving department goals to ensure value-added services as well as implementing Global Finance strategies. </li><li>Initiates and leads projects that improve the efficiency of processes, quality of reporting, and strengthens the controls over investment accounting. </li><li>Leads and manages month-end, quarter-end and annual reporting of balances relating to investment assets and income for GAAP and regulatory accounting. </li><li>Accounts, analyzes, reports and presents assets held for investment. </li><li>Coordinates communication with local accounting offices to ensure clear understanding of investment accounting operations. </li><li>Performs management duties including but not limited to, hiring, training, evaluating, coaching, and disciplining direct reports. Fosters a positive and engaged work environment. Mentors associates and gives guidance on associate development. </li><li>Works with other functional areas in the Company to achieve efficient and effective accounting and reporting practices and procedures and responds to and requests from other functional areas on various inquiries. </li></ul> <p>Education and Experience</p> <p>Required</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance or equivalent related work experience </li><li>10+ years accounting or auditing experience w/ investment accounting experience </li><li>5+ years management experience </li></ul> <p>Preferred</p> <ul> <li>Master's Degree </li><li>CPA certification </li><li>Progress towards FLMI or CFA Charter </li><li>5+ years insurance/reinsurance or financial services accounting experience </li></ul> <p>Skills and Abilities</p> <p>Required</p> <ul> <li>Basic Word, intermediate Excel and SQL/Query skills </li><li>Advanced knowledge of broad business practices </li><li>Highly advanced people management skills, demonstrating an ability to lead, mentor and develop associates. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan.
