The ideal candidate will create a nurturing, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate learning environment that supports the growth of the whole child-socially, emotionally, physically, and cognitively.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Develop and implement engaging, standards-based lesson plans. </li><li>Foster a safe, inclusive, and culturally responsive classroom environment. </li><li>Use developmentally appropriate practices to support children's learning through play, exploration, and hands-on experiences. </li><li>Conduct ongoing assessments and observations to individualize instruction and monitor progress. </li><li>Collaborate with families, support staff, and community partners to promote family engagement and student success. </li><li>Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with Head Start and district guidelines. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (required). </li><li>CTDOE Early Childhood Certification. </li><li>Experience working in a Head Start or early childhood setting preferred. </li><li>Strong understanding of child development and early learning best practices. </li><li>Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. </li></ul> <p>Best Practices in Head Start Teaching</p> <ul> <li>Whole Child Approach: Address cognitive, social-emotional, physical, and language development. </li><li>Family Engagement: Partner with families as primary educators and advocates for their children. </li><li>Culturally Responsive Teaching: Honor and reflect the diverse backgrounds of students and families. </li><li>Play-Based Learning: Use intentional play to promote exploration, creativity, and problem-solving. </li><li>Positive Behavior Support: Foster self-regulation and social skills through modeling and guidance. </li><li>Ongoing Professional Development: Engage in reflective practice and continuous learning. </li></ul>
