<p>Position: Junior Director</p> <p>Location: 565 Morris Avenue, Bronx, NY 10451</p> <p>Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 Per Year</p> <p>Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt</p> <p>About Us</p> <p>Since 1876, The Boys' Club of New York (BCNY) has been partnering with boys and young men</p> <p>in after-school, weekend, and summer programs that support youth growth and development. BCNY's two well-equipped clubhouses in East Harlem and Flushing and its wilderness camp in Harriman State Park offer activities and programs remarkable in their range. From swimming to robotics and enjoying ice skating in Central Park and a trip to the theatre on Saturdays, BCNY programs and events deepen interests and skills and are free of charge to members and their families. With the increase in youth directly impacted by the shelter and homelessness crisis in New York City, BCNY is dedicated to increasing equitable access to its free, high quality youth programs that foster brave spaces where boys and young men can connect, have fun and build lifelong friendships with peers and mentor. Part of that mission is our commitment to BCNY's expansion sites in the Bronx and Brooklyn that engage members within their communities with the same youth-centered ethos the organization is known for. Our dedicated and highly skilled staff and our professional advisory council have made BCNY a leader in youth programming across the field and we invite you join our team as we partner with boys and young men as they journey through their childhoods and our clubhouses.</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>The Junior Director manages the development and implementation of BCNY's youth development program for boys, ages 10-12. They oversee an annual budget that sustains a programmatic focus on leadership, character, life-skills, and healthy living, and provides opportunities for youth to build knowledge, skills, and values in a meaningful and fun context through evidence-based curriculum and lesson plans. The Junior Director hires and supervises frontline staff and volunteers and works closely with the Assistant Clubhouse Director and program development staff to create effective programs.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Manage all aspects of age-specific programs and activities for boys ages 10-12, including life skills, recreation, character development, and healthy living. This includes planning, organizing, ensuring successful implementation, and data collection. </li><li>Plan and conduct creative activities that provide members decision-making and leadership opportunities </li><li>Organize and maintain the junior room program area to foster physical and emotional safety, encourage creativity, and meet member needs. </li><li>Oversee the staffing and management of all part-time staff and volunteers, including staff recruitment, hiring, onboarding, evaluating performance, and coaching </li><li>Manage staff schedules, ensuring adequate coverage and providing coverage as needed </li><li>Lead professional development, staff meetings, and trainings for part-time staff as needed </li><li>Create a positive work atmosphere that fosters teamwork and a constructive exchange of ideas </li><li>Ensure that all staff members adhere to behavior, discipline, and safety policies </li><li>Work with the Assistant Clubhouse Director to establish and enforce behavioral expectations and procedures for maintaining order </li><li>Work with Assistant Clubhouse Director to organize select special events in the clubhouse and monitor staff and member participation and engagement </li><li>Participate in all Clubhouse events including staff meetings, special events, and parent meetings </li><li>Build strong relationships with members and families and work to ensure that individual needs (academic, emotional, social, physical) are met through the appropriate connection or coordination of programs and services. </li><li>Collaborate with colleagues and other departments as needed. </li><li>Demonstrate knowledge of BCNY's mission </li><li>Maintain high expectations for staff and ensure compliance. </li><li>Compile requested data for monitoring, evaluation and reporting </li><li>Manages the department budget. </li><li>Purchase materials, supplies, and equipment designed to meet member needs. </li><li>Communicate clearly with administration, supervisors, peers, and direct reports. </li><li>Attend all staff meetings and clubhouse events. </li><li>Ensure the safety of all members at all times </li><li>Outreach within the community to recruit members </li></ul> <p>.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in a related field; and/or combination of five years of relevant work experience with youth </li><li>Demonstrated skills in program planning and facilitation for youth </li><li>Demonstrated leadership skills </li><li>Strong verbal and written communication skills </li><li>Experience working with economically and educationally disadvantaged youth with a sound understanding of the social and cultural issues facing urban families </li><li>Strong team player </li><li>Willingness to work a flexible and demanding schedule </li><li>Demonstrated strong computer skills, including advanced level Word, Excel, and some database experience with willingness to learn other computer programs as necessary </li><li>Strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize multiple tasks </li></ul> <p>What We Offer</p> <ul> <li>Paid time off </li><li>Health, dental and vision insurance </li><li>403(b) Retirement benefits </li><li>Flexible spending account </li><li>Life Insurance </li><li>Employee Assistance Plan (EAP) and much more </li></ul> <p>The Boys' Club of New York is an equal opportunity employer</p> <p>and makes employment decisions without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status, disability status, or any other status protected by law. ?If you have a disability or other protected need requiring an accommodation, please contact Human Resources.</p>
