<p>Summary:</p> <p>Performs complex technical procedures utilizing medical diagnostic ultrasound equipment and an in-depth knowledge of anatomy and physiology to produce diagnostic sonograms. Prior to exam on in-house patients check order in POM; private patient check for request form.</p> <p>Explains procedure to the patient:</p> <ul> <li>Explains exam to adult </li><li>Explains exam to child with adult present </li></ul> <p>Performs routine abdominal gallbladder renal aorta and spleen exams.</p> <ul> <li>Adults </li><li>Adolescents </li><li>Children </li></ul> <p>Provides technical assistance to surgeons/radiologists for:</p> <ul> <li>Vacuum assisted breast biopsies </li><li>Liver biopsies </li><li>Paracentesis/Thoracentesis </li><li>Cyst aspirations </li><li>FNA Thyroid/Breast Biopsy </li></ul> <p>Performs routine pelvic ultrasounds on:</p> <ul> <li>Adults </li><li>Adolescents </li><li>Children </li></ul> <p>Performs obstetrical studies on adults and adolescents to include:</p> <ul> <li>Single gestation </li><li>Multiple gestation </li><li>Transvaginal </li><li>Translabial </li></ul> <p>Assists obstetrician with amniocentesis for single and/or multiple gestation using Indigo Carmen Dye.</p> <p>Performs small part studies on:</p> <ul> <li>Breast </li><li>Thyroid </li><li>Testicle </li></ul> <p>Operates ultrasound equipment with Doppler and Vascular Capabilities:</p> <ul> <li>Ultrasound Portable Machine </li><li>PVR Machine </li></ul> <p>Performs the following vascular studies:</p> <ul> <li>Venous studies </li><li>Vein mappings and graft surveillance </li><li>Doppler and color Doppler venous/arterial studies </li><li>Carotid and subclavian arterial studies </li><li>Doppler upper and lower extremities </li><li>Pressure volume studies </li></ul> <p>Provides radiologists with preliminary interpretation and reviews each case with radiologists.</p> <p>Sets up room and equipment appropriately.</p> <p>Monitors patient?s condition during examinations.</p> <p>Utilizes color printer camera for imaging and demonstrates ability to:</p> <ul> <li>Load film and cartridge </li><li>Trouble shoot errors </li></ul> <p>Performs check on department crash cart and defibrillator</p> <p>Demonstrates competency in using digital PACs system for viewing retrieving and merging images</p> <p>Demonstrates ability to use/trouble shoot Teleradiology and RIS systems</p> <p>Stocks and cleans work area.</p> <p>Performs all office functions to include RIS order entries and scheduling.</p> <p>QA?s and verifies patients in the RIS.</p> <p>Other information:</p> <p>High school graduation or equivalent and satisfactory completion of allied health training program and two years of ultrasound experience in a clinical setting.</p> <p>ARDMS registration required for experienced Sonographer new graduates must obtain ARDMS registration within 6 months of new hire date.</p> <p>Current CPR certification.</p> <p>Must be able to sit stand and walk1-3 hours lift 50 lbs with good body mechanics twist and bend frequently.</p> <p>Must be able to use both hands/wrists and perform work with extensive deviation pinching and frequent fine motor skills.</p> <p>Far and near vision must be accurate at 20/20 with accurate depth perception able to discriminate between red-green and blue-violet.</p> <p>Must hear whisper at 20 feet.</p> <p>Brown University Health is an Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action employer.
