We encourage interested candidates to apply promptly to ensure consideration.</p> <p>The Prince George's CountyOffice of the Sheriffis currently seeking qualified applicants to fill aPsychologist G, grade G31 position, in the Bureau of Administration/Personnel & Wellness Services division.</p> <p>About the Position</p> <p>This a senior-level management role overseeing the area of clinical counseling, providing psychological services. The position focuses on services such as crisis intervention, psychological assessment, testing, evaluation, diagnosis, and psychotherapeutic treatment for public safety personnel experiencing issues related to personality, emotional adjustment, behavior, mental illness, and occupational stress. Emphasis is placed on addressing behavioral health challenges faced by the Office of the Sheriff employees.</p> <p>About the Agency</p> <p>The Prince George's County Office of the Sheriff has been a vital link in the criminal justice system for more than 300 years, providing the citizens of Prince George's County with professional, transparent, and effective law enforcement service. The Office of the Sheriff serves as the law enforcement arm of the courts, responding to domestic violence calls, processing warrants, civil papers, domestic violence peace and protective orders, Emergency Psychiatric Petition (E.P.S.) orders, and the execution of evictions. The Office of the Sheriff is also responsible for court security, providing security and protection for visitors to our courthouses and securing courtrooms and holding areas. Deputies transport prisoners and are responsible for extraditing fugitives from other states.</p> <p>Examples of Work</p> <p>MENTAL HEALTH AND WELLNESS SERVICES</p> <ul> <li>Provide psychological services to Sheriff's Office personnel, including assessments, counseling, debriefings, and crisis interventions. </li><li>Services delivered must reflect evidence-based practices and maintain strict confidentiality. </li><li>Develop and lead wellness programs tailored to the law enforcement population. </li><li>Wellness programs must be offered quarterly and include anonymous participation options. </li><li>Serve as a clinical consultant during critical incidents or officer-involved shootings. </li><li>Response to critical incidents should occur within 1 hour of notification. </li></ul> <p>FITNESS-FOR-DUTY EVALUATIONS</p> <ul> <li>B1 Provide written recommendations based on assessment findings to command staff and HR. </li><li>B2. Reports must be completed within five (5) business days of evaluation and securely submitted to authorized personnel. </li></ul> <p>TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT</p> <ul> <li>Develop and deliver training on mental health topics such as stress management, suicide prevention, trauma recovery, and crisis de-escalation. </li><li>Participate in academy and in-service training planning as a mental health advisor. </li></ul> <p>PROGRAM AND POLICY DEVELOPMENT</p> <ul> <li>Assist in drafting mental health policies and procedures to ensure compliance with CALEA, MPTSC, and agency standards. </li><li>Policies must align, Employee Counseling Services and Fitness for Duty. </li><li>Collaborate with HR and Risk Management to maintain confidential wellness records and data tracking systems. </li><li>Records must be maintained in a HIPAA-compliant digital system and reviewed quarter </li></ul> <p>PERFORMS OTHER RELATED DUTIES AS ASSIGNED</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Candidates must meet all minimum qualifications listed below to be eligible for additional consideration:</p> <ul> <li>Education:Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Doctorate in Psychology as defined in Title 18, Health Occupations Article, Section 1-101 (g) Annotated Code of Maryland. </li><li>Experience: Three (3) years of post-doctoral experience in clinical therapeutic practice, including diagnostic and psychological testing service experience, clinical assessment, counseling, and crisis intervention. </li><li>License: Must be licensed as a Psychologist by the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Psychologists or eligible for licensure through examination reciprocity as determined by the Board, at the time of application. Licensure must be obtained prior to appointment and maintained throughout employment. </li></ul> <p>Any equivalent combination of relevant training, education and experience may also be accepted.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>At least one (1) year of this experience in a public safety, law enforcement, corrections, or other high-stress occupational setting is preferred. </li><li>Prior law enforcement and/or government experience. </li></ul> <p>EACH APPLICATION MUST INCLUDE INFORMATION THAT CLEARLY DEMONSTRATES ALL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION.</p> <p>Additional Information</p> <p>Job Location:5303 Chrysler Way Upper Marlboro, MD 20772</p> <p>Conditions of Employment: Upon selection, the candidate must:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Meet minimum qualifications and pass an administered Administrative Aide exam. Applicants who have previously taken the exam on or after 8/1/2024, and passed, will not be required to re-test; instead, previously test scores will be used to receive the passing disposition.</p> </li><li> <p>Meet all training and performance standards and demonstrate proficiency as required by the agency and must successfully pass the proficiency test administered.</p> </li><li> <p>Wear and use agency protective apparel and equipment in the performance of their assigned duties, if applicable.</p> </li><li> <p>Be in good physical condition.</p> </li><li> <p>Be available to work on a rotating, on-call schedule 24 hours a day/seven days a week in response to urgent public safety needs</p> </li><li> <p>Successfully pass preemployment checks which may include reference checks, background investigations, motor vehicle background check, and medical examination, including drug screening and random drug and alcohol tests, where applicable. Background investigation will be conducted by Prince Georges' County Office of Human Resources Management, Public Safety Investigations Division.</p> </li><li> <p>Be willing and able to serve as an essential employee. Essential employees are expected to report during standard or non-standard hours as operations necessitate, or during emergencies. Essential employees are expected to report or remain at work when other County employees are granted Administrative Leave.</p> </li></ul>
