<p>Position Summary</p> <p>This Paralegal - Advanced position provides high-level legal support on OCI's most complex administrative matters. The position is routinely assigned cases involving substantial evidence, multiple parties and issues, challenging legal questions, and significant variability across matters. It exercises the highest level of independent authority permitted for non-attorneys and supports all phases of litigation, including document preparation, legal and factual research, and hearing coordination. In addition to complex litigation support, the position, working with the public records manager, leads the legal unit's review and processing of open records requests, coordinates administrative rulemaking, oversees service of process, and manages the technical and organizational functions of OCI's legal case management systems.</p> <p>For more information, please view the Paralegal-Advanced complete position description.</p> <p>Salary Information</p> <p>Starting salary for the Paralegal-Advanced will be between $39.00 - $45.67 per hour, plus great benefits. This classification is assigned to pay schedule/range 07-03. A 12-month probationary period may be required. Current state employees will be compensated in accordance with the current State Compensation Plan.</p> <p>Job Details</p> <p>Due to the nature of the position, OCI will conduct background checks on applicants prior to selection. OCI does not sponsor visas and is not an eligible OPT employer for those with F1 visas. All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States, and to complete the required employment eligibility form.</p> <p>This position has potential for a combination of telecommuting and in-person work after an initial training period has been completed. Some travel may be necessary, including out-of-state travel. All employees are expected to live and work in Wisconsin.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Minimally qualified candidates will have all the following:</p> <ul> <li>Experience supporting government or regulatory work through research, organizing files, drafting summaries, preparing documents, and tracking deadlines. </li><li>Experience coordinating a rulemaking process, managing records compliance, conducting examinations or investigations, or overseeing an administrative function for an agency or similar environment. </li><li>Experience serving as a central support resource for multiple professionals, such as attorneys, investigators, examiners, or program managers, while independently coordinating tasks, deadlines, and workflow requirements. </li></ul> <p>In addition, well-qualified applicants will have one or more of the following:</p> <ul> <li>Experience with legal review of public records requests, including confidentiality requirements and drafting denial, or partial denial, letters. </li><li>Experience utilizing legal databases (e.g., LEXIS/NEXIS, Westlaw, or similar), and case management systems. </li><li>Paralegal certification or related degree (related degrees would include, but is not limited to, business, writing, English, library research). </li></ul> <p>How To Apply</p> <p>Apply online!
