<p>The City of Wilmington is a top Delaware employer. Every department member fosters this mission.</p> <p>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>Provides case management services to Spanish-speaking crime victims as a member of the Wilmington Police Department's Victim Services Unit. Directly works with victims of violent crime, including domestic violence, sexual abuse, assault, and other violent crimes. Conducts home visits, accompanies victims to court, and assists with compensation claims. This position reports to the Victim Services Manager. Additional responsibilities include::</p> <ul> <li>Provides crisis stabilization and support services to crime victims, witnesses, survivors, and co-victims and assists with identified concerns resulting from victimization. </li><li>• This position primarily focuses on serving those who speak Spanish and/or may be related to a Spanish-speaking crime victim, witness, survivor, and co-victim. </li><li>Assesses the needs of crime victims, witnesses, survivors, and co-victims and determines the types of referrals and services indicated. Coordinates the provision of referrals and services. </li><li>Provides information using a trauma-informed approach to crime victims, witnesses, survivors, and co-victims related to criminal events and/or associated criminal justice response, policies, and practices. </li><li>Understands, upholds, and assists in the education and exercise of victims' rights per statutory and constitutional laws. </li><li>Prepares and maintains statistical records. Records case file information and appropriate documentation in identified system. </li><li>This position involves coordinating with Wilmington Police Department and a variety of Law Offices to support undocumented immigrant victims of violent crimes in accessing relief provided by the U-VISA process and assisting the Designated Signer of those documents. </li><li>Educate law enforcement on policies and procedures for assisting non-English speaking victims of violent crime, offering guidance and serving as a comprehensive resource on the topic for the police department. Serves as a liaison with advocacy groups, clinical and other service providers, community outreach services, and law enforcement personnel. </li><li>Participates in regional committees, task forces, outreach events and trainings to promote services and educate about victims' rights and topics related to non-English speaking victims of violent crime. </li><li>Conducts home and field visits, accompanies victims to court and other appointments in the community and may be required to respond to crime scenes as needed. </li><li>Transports victims, witnesses, survivors, and co-victims as needed. </li><li>This position involves assisting law enforcement and other community agencies in effectively communicating with individuals who have limited to no English proficiency. </li><li>Performs other job-related duties as assigned. </li><li>Performs all related work as required. </li></ul>
