<p>The Adams County Facilities & Fleet Management Department is seeking an experienced professional to serve as Deputy Director. This role supports the Director in overseeing department operations and advancing the County's goals for innovation, service, and inclusivity.</p> <p>The ideal candidate will have a strong background in facility management, proven experience leading and managing a large workforce, and the ability to oversee multiple complex projects across functional areas including a strong background in planning and executing capital projects.</p> <p>The department consists of six divisions: Facility Operations, Business Operations, Fleet Operations, Real Property Management, Sustainability, and Planning, Design & Construction. The Deputy Director will:</p> <ul> <li>Provide operational and strategic leadership and support across all divisions. </li><li>Help improve workflows and service delivery. </li><li>Oversee communication for complex and high impact projects. </li><li>Coordinate collaboration between internal teams and other County departments. </li><li>Ensure accurate and timely information sharing with stakeholders. </li></ul> <p>This position plays a key role in supporting department-wide processes, driving efficiency, and maintaining service standards.</p> <p>The anticipated hiring range for this role is $113,857.37 - $130,935.92. The full salary range for the role is $113,857.37 - $170,786.05Under the direction of the Facilities and Fleet Director, the Deputy Director supports department operations by:</p> <ul> <li>Coordinating with division managers to develop and implement work plans, departmental goals, and operational policies and procedures. </li><li>Monitoring service delivery methods and operational performance; identifying areas for improvement and guiding implementation of changes. </li><li>Managing internal and external communications related to department programs, policies, and projects; representing the department in meetings with other County departments, elected officials, and external agencies. </li><li>Overseeing customer service standards and feedback processes to support timely, clear, and consistent communication with County departments and stakeholders. </li><li>Participating in the coordination of department activities with other County departments and outside agencies as needed. </li><li>Participating in staff recruitment, performance management, and professional development; addressing performance issues and supporting leadership growth. </li><li>Reviewing and directing work plans for assigned divisions to ensure alignment with department priorities and service expectations. </li><li>Assisting in the development, monitoring, and adjustment of the department budget; reviewing and approving expenditures within authorized levels. </li><li>Preparing and delivering reports, briefings, and presentations on key projects, policies, and department performance. </li><li>Responding to escalated customer issues and resolving complex service concerns. </li><li>Participating in professional meetings and industry groups to stay informed on operational trends, regulations, and technologies. </li><li>Supporting departmental initiatives related to sustainability, energy efficiency, and innovation in facility and fleet operations. </li><li>Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Supervisory Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Exercises direct supervision over Division Management level staff. </li><li>Knowledge of facilities planning, construction, maintenance, and security operations, including applicable codes and regulations. </li><li>Understanding of organizational structures and management practices used to assess and improve operational efficiency. </li><li>Familiarity with sustainable building and fleet practices, including regulatory compliance at the federal, state, and local levels. </li><li>Experience with budget development, financial forecasting, and oversight of expenditures for large-scale operations. </li><li>Ability to lead and manage multidisciplinary teams, including supervisory, technical, and maintenance staff. </li><li>Skill in developing and implementing departmental goals, policies, and procedures aligned with organizational priorities. </li><li>Ability to analyze operational challenges, evaluate alternatives, and implement effective solutions. </li><li>Experience in staff selection, supervision, training, and performance evaluation, with a focus on accountability and support. </li><li>Strong communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, present information clearly, and coordinate across departments. </li><li>Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with staff, County leadership, partner agencies, and the public. </li></ul> <p>Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. Years of experience may substitute for a degree, on a year-for-year basis. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be as follows:</p> <p> </p> <p>Experience: </p> <ul> <li>Seven (7) years of increasingly responsible facilities and/or fleet management experience including five (5) years of management or supervisory experience. </li><li>Experience working in federal, state, or local government is highly preferred. </li></ul> <p>Education & Training: </p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in facilities management, engineering, construction management, architecture, business and/or public administration, or a closely related field. </li><li>Applicable year-for-year experience may substitute the bachelor's degree. </li></ul> <p> </p> <p>License and/or certification</p> <ul> <li>Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid Colorado Driver's License with no restrictions is required. </li><li>Certified Automotive Fleet Manager (CAFM) through NAFA Fleet Management Association is preferred. </li><li>Certified Facility Manager (CFM) through International Facility Management Associated (IFMA) or equivalent certification is preferred. </li></ul> <p> </p> <p>Background Check</p> <ul> <li>Must pass a criminal background check. </li><li>Background check will include a Motor Vehicle Check. </li><li>Candidates may be required to pass an intensive background process through the Adams County Sheriff's Office. </li></ul> <p> </p> <p>Other: </p> <p>Essential duties require the following physical abilities and work environment:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to work in a standard office environment with some ability to travel to different sites and some exposure to dust, noise, the outdoors, and mechanical and electrical hazards. </li></ul>
