<p>Position Type:</p> <p>Special Education/Speech and Language Pathologist</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>6/26/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>The Dearborn Academy</p> <p>(High-Needs School)</p> <p>District:</p> <p>  Dearborn Academy  Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>Job Title: Speech and Language Pathologist</p> <p>Reports to: Principal</p> <p>Employed by: AIMS</p> <p>Scope of the Position: The Academy's Speech and Language Pathologist, working in collaboration with district staff, students, and parents, shall be responsible for providing diagnostic and intervention services for students with speech, language, and hearing disorders, and helping students to adjust and access the general education curriculum.</p> <p>Position-Specific Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Assess, screen, and evaluate students and effectively share results with parents and educational staff, and participate in the eligibility determination process in accordance with state and school division requirements and best practice </li><li>Develop and implement Individualized Education Program (IEPs) for students with Speech/Language impairment and assists with IEPs for students with speech/language as a service on an annual basis or according to requirements </li><li>Provide speech and language therapy to qualifying students and frequently monitor student progress </li><li>Assist students in developing feelings of self-worth and in making social adjustments which permit them to cope with disabilities. </li><li>Assist teachers and other support staff in the development and implementation of curriculum modifications and appropriate classroom strategies </li><li>Refer students and their families to appropriate community agencies and services, as needed </li><li>Build positive relationships with staff, students, and families </li><li>Provide families with instructional materials to be used at home </li><li>Accurately complete forms and reports and maintain records in compliance with state and federal regulations </li><li>Attend professional developments, workshops, and staff meetings to maintain and increase professional knowledge and skills </li><li>Provide consultative services for school staff by sharing and demonstrating specific techniques and working with school teams to facilitate relevant and consistent interventions for targeted students </li><li>Establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships with administrative and school staff </li><li>Other duties as assigned by the Principal. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Hold an Educational Limited Temporary License or a Full Speech-Pathology License issued by the State of Michigan; meet all requirements for Speech-Language Pathologists established by the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs. </li><li>Ability to effectively interact, collaborate, and communicate both orally and in writing with administration, staff, parents and students </li><li>Satisfactory criminal background check and unprofessional conduct check as required by School Safety Legislation. </li><li>Knowledge of current speech and language assessment tools </li><li>Knowledge of Special Education rules and regulations </li><li>Demonstrated high-level of organizational skills and ability to successfully manage and coordinate a number of projects and tasks. </li><li>Ability to write reports requiring meaningful interpretation of data, technical precision and accuracy. </li><li>Ability to work flexibly and cooperatively. </li></ul>
