Follows procedures to safeguard the health and safety of children.</p> <p>Assists the director in planning various activities for the children.</p> <p>Assists with organizing materials.</p> <p>Promotes positive parent and child interactions and activities.</p> <p>Participate in staff activities and in special training programs.</p> <p>Perform related duties as assigned.</p> <p>Knowledge of:</p> <ul> <li>Safe practices in program and playground activities. </li><li>Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy. </li><li>Basic record-keeping techniques. </li><li>Health and safety regulations. </li></ul> <p>Ability to:</p> <ul> <li>Learn child guidance principles and practices. </li><li>Communicate and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, and staff members, both orally and in writing. </li><li>Print and write legibly. </li><li>Understand and follow oral and written instructions. </li><li>Learn and apply safety procedures and regulations. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>Any combination equivalent to: High school diploma, GED certificate, or demonstrated progress toward obtaining a GED as required by Kentucky law. </li><li>Experience working with children in an organized setting. </li></ul> <p>TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT</p> <p>Salary and work year to be established by the board of education.</p> <p>EVALUATION</p> <p>Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of board policy for classified personnel.</p>
