<p>Description</p> <p>The Department of Transportation and Public Works has an exciting opportunity for a Project Technician II working in the Bridge and Structure section. The Project Technician will be responsible for providing advanced technical engineering support while learning Project Management skills for various engineering projects under the direct supervision of a licensed professional engineer.</p> <p>The position will be based out of the Department of Transportation/Public Works offices in Creve Coeur.The annual starting salary for this position will be between $55,536 - $66,643 and will be based on experience and qualifications.</p> <p>Additionally, we offer a comprehensive benefits package and a generous Paid Time Off (PTO) policy. For more information regarding this program, please visit https://studentaid.gov/manage-loans/forgiveness-cancellation/public-service.</p> <p>Examples of Duties</p> <p>Essential FunctionExamples</p> <p>Prepare engineering plans to include assembling various aspects of the plan and compiling information as directed by a license professional engineer.</p> <p>Analyze and review designs, plans and maps in accordance with general engineering principles.</p> <p>Analyze soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and other topographical and geologic data in order to plan and design project.</p> <p>Calculate cost and determine feasibility of project based on analysis of collected data.</p> <p>Inspect construction site to monitor progress and ensure conformance to engineering plans, specifications, and construction and safety standards.</p> <p>Become certified as a Team Leader for County bridge and culvert inspections per FHWA requirements (and maintain as an ongoing requirements.</p> <p>Perform bridge, culvert, and structural inspections as a member of a two-person team.</p> <p>Coordinate with Departmental Groups for bridge, culvert, and other structural repairs based on inspection condition assessment.</p> <p>Prepare engineering reports, including bridge and culvert inspection reports and submissions to Missouri Department of Transportation.</p> <p>Maintain Department's inventory data of bridges and culverts.</p> <p>Analyze and review engineering design plans to ensure provided quantity sheets match associated plan sheets.</p> <p>Verify quantity sheets match Engineer's Estimate in both units shown and total cost in accordance with Departmental policies.</p> <p>Analyze project feasibility based on available data and prepare engineering cost estimates for planning level projects in accordance with Departmental Policies.</p> <p>Marginal Function Examples</p> <p>Perform other duties as required or assigned.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Requires six years of related experience or an equivalent amount of education and experience. Prefer construction inspection or structural experience. A current, valid driver's license is also required.</p> <p>Additional Information</p> <p>Responses provided to the interview questions listed under the Supplemental Question heading of this posting will comprise 100% of the applicant's earned grade. A candidate must earn a qualifying grade of 70 or more on the interview to be eligible for appointment. Once questions are scored, an email will be sent to the address on file with instructions on how to complete and submit a Conviction Questionnaire. Candidates have 3 days to complete the required questionnaire.</p> <p>The five top ranking candidates, based on the final grade, will be certified to the Department Director/Appointing Authority who will make the final decision.</p> <p>All applicants conditionally offered a merit position will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Screening will be performed by a reputable clinical laboratory.
